The Supreme Court has decided to open up an expression of interest forum for those with extensive legal experience to express interest in the role of Magistrate. We would like to emphasize the apolitical role this is, and ask that people respect this process by not campaigning, endorsing, or explicitly supporting any individual for such role.

MAGISTRATE INFORMATION

Magistrates serve on the District Court of the Commonwealth of Redmont. They preside over all cases in the District Court, under the supervision of a Judge or Justice. The‌ ‌District‌ ‌Court‌ ‌of‌ ‌Redmont‌ ‌hears‌ ‌all‌ ‌minor‌ ‌civil‌ ‌and‌ ‌criminal‌ ‌disputes‌ ‌in‌ ‌the‌ ‌first‌ ‌instance.‌

Magistrates are expected to maintain judicial integrity and independence, and to perform‌ ‌the‌ ‌duties‌ ‌of‌ ‌the‌ ‌office‌ ‌fairly,‌ ‌impartially,‌ ‌and‌ ‌diligently.‌ Individuals who hold political office will not be selected unless they explicitly indicate they are willing to resign if offered a position in the judiciary.

- What are your strengths and weaknesses?:

One of my main strengths is my experience in law. Throughout the years, I have served in multiple legal roles, including Chief Justice. This gives me a strong understanding of the law and courtroom management.

A weakness I continue to work on is that I like doing things quick, which can sometimes lead to imperfect work.

- What town/city do you primarily reside in?: Redmont

- Why do you want this position?:

I want to return to an active judicial role where I can continue to learn and improve my abilities. I believe the position allows me to contribute to the legal field in a consistent and efficient manner.

- All Magistrates are required to possess the Attorney qualification, have you passed that exam?:

Yes

- Are you able to effectively communicate with a team? Explain:

Yes. My time serving alongside multiple Judicial Officers required constant communication to ensure efficiency. I understand the importance of respectful disagreement and collaboration in decision making

- What kind of legal experience do you have on DC outside of the court?:

I have been involved in different jobs within the Executive and the Legislative branches, which allowed me to get a better understanding of how the law functions before and after it reaches the courts. I am also in the SDP Legal Team and offer private legal advice to clients.

- What are your strengths and weaknesses?:
Some of my general strengths are:
  • My ability to stay impartial
  • My ability to stay unbiased and not have conflicts of interest in most cases if not all, if needed I can recuse myself.
  • My ability to keep records
  • My high understanding of Redmont’s laws and constitution
  • Maintaining Professionalism
  • When needed remaining politically independent
Some of my general weaknesses are:
  • Time, I have strict time to do dc and interfere with things sometimes.
  • Conflicts where it hurts me personally can make me lose my patience, so if needed I can recuse myself from these.
  • Striving for the best even when it does not need to be done.
Most of the weaknesses listed I am actively working on and trying to get better with.

- What town/city do you primarily reside in?: I reside mainly in Oakridge however own my main estate in Reveille.

- Why do you want this position?: I would like the position of Magistrate because I want to grow my experience in Redmont’s laws and judicial processes. In growing my experience, I want to get more into law, I have been a judge on another server and have done some work in wild towns that have a similar structure to DemocracyCraft’s judicial branch. In judicial processes, I hope to grow my experience and be involved. I find law a very rewarding and serious career, but lately there have been people resigning, and a magistrate who got impeached. I really just want to learn more and make sure Redmont’s laws are followed.

- All Magistrates are required to possess the Attorney qualification, have you passed that exam?: Yes

- Are you able to effectively communicate with a team? Explain: I believe in the past year I have been in DC that I am good at effectively communicating with a team. I have worked in pretty much half of the government departments, these are doj, dhs, doh, doe, and dpa, in all these departments you must effectively work and communicate with a team.

- What kind of legal experience do you have on DC outside of the court?: Outside of the court in DC I work in a law firm named T&P as a Senior Partner, and Company Executive, I also work in the Department of Homeland Security and Department of Justice (If accepted I will resign from any firm needed). In the past I have worked in the DoJ as a State Prosecutor, this was for around 3-4 months. I have also been a Associate Justice and currently are Chief Justice of the wild town Mountain (a presidentially comminated town), where I served over multiple cases, and assisted in the writing of their charter rework. I have also recently been elected into the Redmont Bar Association as a councilor.

Lawsuit: Dismissed - Commonwealth of Redmont v. CraftySciGuy [2025] SCR 13
Lawsuit: Dismissed - Culls v. Anthony_org [2025] DCR 63
I had more cases, but the rest are not appearing in the archives.

- Additional Information: I am currently trying for Junior Magistrate however if you wish to make me a different role, I am happy to accept. Thank you for your time and consideration. Also, if needed, I can of course resign from any position mentioned.

- What are your strengths and weaknesses?:

Strengths:
1. Activity -> Currently I do have a summer break, which means I am not significantly held up by real life academic work.
2. Supervising Work -> I've done a lot of supervising work in my time as an employee of Talion & Partners Inc., I've helped train the prospective litigators of Redmont and this has helped me build the skill of scrutiny.
3. Ability to Learn from Mistakes -> Of course, this is an expected skill from any prospective Magistrate, but whenever I am corrected on my mistakes, I try to learn as much from them so as to not repeat them. We are all human, and we all make mistakes, and what I can do is learn from those experiences.
4. Understanding Legal Arguments -> Not all legal arguments are perfect and there is no shame in that. Most of us are non-professionals doing this in our free time, but in my experiences as a supervisor, I've been able to understand lesser put arguments that may not be to the point, but are substantial at their core. I believe this is a necessary skill where some arguments put before a JO may not be easy to understand, but still do have some points worth noting.

Weaknesses:
1. Argumentative -> Unfortunately, I may come off as argumentative or rude a few times, especially when prompted in the wrong way. And I must admit this as a fault of mine. Of course, I have no ill intent, and I'm working on this myself.
2. Miss minor details -> I may miss minor details from time to time.
3. Spelling -> I suck at spelling and Grammarly doesn't work for me (currently), so if I type fast I may commit a few typos
4. May have to Recuse for now -> I've been involved in a lot of the cases on the DCR docket, however, as new cases come in I won't have as many CoIs.
5. Occasional Burnout -> Almost every lawyer on Redmont experiences this and I have too, and where I feel burned out I will try my best to mitigate and take LOAs when I don't have cases on my docket.

- What town/city do you primarily reside in?:
Reveille

- Why do you want this position?:
I've been in the legal field since mid-January on Redmont and I believe I am a well established lawyer. I have always wanted to serve the people and provide justice. Currently, there is a need for judicial manpower and with the Junior Magistrate program I would be able to achieve my aim, and also, this is a phenomenal learning experience for me. There is a famous quote in the legal field of my country, "In a Court of Justice, both parties know the truth, it is the judge who is on trial." I believe this learning opportunity will help me find the truth and deliver justice, and if accepted, I will prove myself in this metaphorical trial.
- All Magistrates are required to possess the Attorney qualification, have you passed that exam?:
Yes.

- Are you able to effectively communicate with a team? Explain:
Yes! I can communicate with other members of the bench. I believe I've demonstrated this in my time in the private sector, where I have been the Director of Training at T&P for a while, I've therefore acted as a bridge between junior lawyers and executive leadership.

- What kind of legal experience do you have on DC outside of the court?:
I am a Public Defender, Prosecutor at the DoJ, Director of Training @ Talion & Partners Inc., and I've been recently elected as a RBA councillor. I've also written legislation that was introduced (but rescinded at my request).

Cleaned up a bit. Will delete this message in a week or so.

In the future, please try to make your cases hyperlinked only, instead of embedded. It's a bit annoying to scroll so far down, it's much more helpful to see all of your case history at a glance. Consider spoilers for extra long histories!
