Establish Offences under the Standardized Criminal Code

The people of the Commonwealth of Redmont, through their elected Representatives in the Congress and the force of law ordained to that Congress by the people through the constitution, do hereby enact the following provisions into law:

1 - Short Title and Enactment
(1) This Act may be cited as the ‘Miscellaneous Offenses Act'
(2) This Act shall be enacted immediately upon its signage.
(3) This Act has been authored by: The_Donuticus

2 - Reasons
The current system of sorting crimes is too chaotic and messy. This Act exists as part of the Standardized Criminal Code package of bills to address this.

3 - Criminal Code
The Miscellaneous Offenses Act will establish the crimes outlined in '4 - Offences' as an extension of the Standardized Criminal Code Act.

4 - Offences
1) Contempt of Court (Original: pugbandit - Feb 15, 2021)
(i) Classification: Summary Criminal Offense
The disobedience of an order of a court.
Conduct tending to obstruct or interfere with the orderly administration of justice also qualifies as contempt of court.
A party that fails to perform a specific act, in accordance with a judgment by a court, can be charged with contempt and subsequently penalized.
First Offence: $500 Fine
Second Offence: $1000 Fine + 5 Minutes Jail
Third Offence: Maximum $2500, up to 10 Minutes Jail.

(2) Enslavement (Original: Icypenguin79 - Feb 22, 2021)
(i) Classification: Indictable Criminal Offense
The act of subjecting an individual to slavery, in all cases, or involuntary servitude, unless as a punishment for crime.
Minimum Sentencing: $5,000 Fine
Maximum Sentencing: $25,000 Fine + 120 Minutes Jail Time

(3) False Accusation (Original: huney69 - Jul 13, 2021)
(i) Classification: Indictable Criminal Offense
The act of falsely accusing someone of a crime and attempting to incur legal punishment when they could reasonably infer that the accused was innocent.
Per Offense: $100 Fine

(4) Illegal Advertising (Original: ElainaThomas29 - Nov 1, 2022)
(i) Classification: Summary Criminal Offense
The act of advertising a business or political campaign to a public chat not designated for advertising, not responding to a question that someone else asked and not said within /ad or a designated channel for advertising.
Per Offense: $100 Fine

(5) Illegal Locking (Original: Dusty_3 - Jun 21, 2020)
(i) Classification: Summary Criminal Offense
The act of locking another citizen's property on their land without permission.
Per Offense: $100 Fine

(6) Resisting Arrest (Original: Dusty_3 - Jun 21, 2020)
(i) Classification: Summary Criminal Offense
The act of disregarding a directive given to you by a member of the Department of Justice while being wanted.

Clarify the Meaning of Contempt of Court

The people of the Commonwealth of Redmont,
through their elected Representatives in the Congress and the force of law ordained to that Congress by the people through the constitution, do hereby enact the following provisions into law:

1 - Short Title and Enactment
(1) This Act may be cited as the ‘Contempt Clarification Act'
(2) This Act shall be enacted immediately upon its signage.

2 - Reasons
(1) The definition of the term “Contempt of Court” as given by pugbandit can and should be expanded upon in order to allow for a more concise enforcement of law.

Replace Section 4 of the Miscellaneous Offenses Act

(i) Classification: Summary Criminal Offense
The act of speaking in a court case when not involved or summoned to provide testimony.
Per Offense: $100 Fine

The disobedience of an order of a court.
Conduct tending to obstruct or interfere with the orderly administration of justice also qualifies as contempt of court.
A party that fails to perform a specific act, in accordance with a judgment by a court, can be charged with contempt and subsequently penalized.

2 - Reasons
(1) The punishment set for Contempt of Court is way too low, at only $100 per offense, which makes it easy for citizens to abuse the judicial system.
(2) This is part two of two bills, the other bill will amend the punishment in the Miscellaneous Offenses Act to reflect the ones in the Judicial Standards Act.

(1) As of right now, you can legally advertise in anywhere other than the in-game chat without doing /ad.
(2) To fix this loophole, the definition of Illegal Advertising must be amended.

(1) If you don’t know what the Department of Justice wants with you, you have every right to leave or do whatever you want. The Department of Justice should be required to notify you that you are wanted and then give you a directive on what to do next.

The act of leaving the server while a Police Officer is pursuing you.
