Amend the Constitution​


The people of the Commonwealth of Redmont, through their elected Representatives in the Congress and the force of law ordained to that Congress by the people through the constitution, do hereby enact the following provisions into law:

1 - Short Title and Enactment
(1) This Act may be cited as the 'Increased Federal Judges Act.'
(2) This Act shall be enacted immediately upon its signage.
(3) This Act has been authored and sponsored by Representative RealImza.
(5) This Act has been co-sponsored by Senator Omegabiebel.

2 - Reasons
(1) The Federal Court of Redmont requires additional Judges due to increased caseload.
(2) Many individuals within the legal field and judiciary have requested this amendment.

3 - Amendment
(1) §17 of the Constitution shall be amended as follows:
17. Federal Court‌ ‌of‌ ‌Redmont‌ ‌
The‌ ‌Federal Court‌ ‌of‌ ‌Redmont‌ ‌hears‌ ‌all‌ ‌major‌ ‌civil‌ ‌and‌ ‌criminal‌ ‌disputes‌ ‌in‌ ‌the‌ ‌first‌ ‌instance and is‌ ‌the‌ ‌appellate‌ ‌court‌ ‌for‌ ‌verdicts‌ ‌made‌ ‌by‌ ‌the‌ ‌District‌ ‌Courts‌.

(1) Presiding Officers. Federal Court cases are presided over by a single Judge.

(2) Patronage. There‌ ‌shall‌ ‌not‌ ‌be‌ ‌more‌ ‌than‌ ‌three six Judges‌ ‌on‌ ‌the‌ ‌Federal Court of‌ ‌Redmont‌ ‌at‌ ‌any‌ ‌given‌ ‌time.‌

Aye, i agree with the stated reasons. This will significantly lighten the load by spreading it across more judges and make the judiciary more streamlined as a whole
 
I’ve proposed an amendment (S-04/34) to this bill to reduce judges six to five. I agree in principle that we should expand the court, but six is a bit much. As such, I’ll abstain—I don’t aim to block the bill from passing, but I would like the amendment to be considered before giving an affirmative vote.
