What position are you applying for? Economist
Why do you think you are suited to the position you are applying for? I think this position would suit me well because I've actually already done it. During my time on the server from 2020 to 2022, I served as an Economist, Head Economist, and then Deputy Secretary of the Department of Commerce for several months. In that time I helped lead the CPI initiatives that didn't exist consistently before my team and I built them - so I know I have a decent foundation to help guide me through the new processes that have been created while I have been gone.
Beyond the history, I have a genuine interest in how the server's economy actually works: how businesses, industries, and markets interact, how supply and demand move, and where the trends are heading. I like the analytical side of it - crunching numbers, spotting patterns, and finding ways to improve economic activity for businesses and individual players alike. That interest is backed by real-world experience: my irl professional background involves a ton of data work, and I own a successful business in real life, so evaluating financials and economic decisions is something I do outside the game daily too.
I'm also an active player across different parts of the economy, which gives me a ground-level view of how players earn, spend, invest, and trade. That perspective matters for a role that evaluates grant and billboard applications and produces CPIs - you make better calls when you understand both the data and the people behind it.
Finally, I pay attention to detail and I hold the line on rules when it matters. I'm fair and objective when handling difficult calls, I communicate clearly when I need to explain a decision, and I follow through on what I commit to. I recently rejoined the server specifically to get back into the economic side of things and help it thrive the way I worked to before and I would be grateful to receive the opportunity to do it again. Additional Information: For transparency: I'm currently in the process of relaunching my own company (Costco) on the server. I'm happy to recuse myself from evaluating any application where there's a conflict of interest, and I'll always disclose one upfront. I want my work as an Economist judged on its fairness and accuracy, and I'd hold myself to that standard from day one.
