Refresh Oakridge’s Commerce and Grant Opportunities
The citizens of Oakridge, through their elected Representatives in the Town-Council and the force of law ordained to that Town-Council by the people through the constitution of Oakridge, do hereby enact the following provisions into the by-laws:
1 - Short Title and Enactment
(1) This Act may be cited as the 'Refresh Grants Act.'
(2) This Act shall be enacted immediately upon its signage.
(3) This Act has been authored by: Head of Commerce Antonfr
(4) This Act has been co-sponsored by:
(5) The following Acts are repealed:
(i) Oakridge Commerce Opportunity Act
2 - Reasons
(1) Redmont has recently seen a sudden surge in new players.
(2) Oakridge has a great opportunity to bring in new, active businesses which can prosper in the town.
(3) This will benefit the town greatly, by making the streets more active, and giving greater opportunities for new residents.
(4) This refresh also gives more opportunities for Economists, which are more relevant to the modern Redmont.
3 - Definitions
(1) For the purposes of this Act, "company" is to refer to any legal entity registered with the Department of Commerce.
4 - Grant Categories
(1) The following grant types are established under the Business Grants category:
(a) Business Startup Grant
(i) This grant is intended for new businesses in need of funds to purchase tools, rent, property, etc., to jumpstart production, sales, or services.
(ii) A maximum of $15,000 may be awarded through this grant.
(b) Business Expansion Grant
(i) This grant is intended for established businesses to purchase property, renovations or anything else needed to facilitate the expansion of their business into Oakridge. The applicant must not own commercial property in Oakridge.
(ii) A maximum of $12,500 may be awarded through this grant.
(c) Business Property Grant
(i) This grant is intended for businesses both new and established to purchase commercial property in Oakridge. The applicant must not own commercial property in Oakridge.
(ii) A maximum of $10,000 may be awarded through this grant.
(d) Crisis Recovery Grant
(i) This grant is intended for businesses recovering from unexpected crises or economic downturns, in need of funds to regain stability.
(ii) A maximum of $7,500 may be awarded through this grant.
(e) Sectoral Grant
(i) This grant is intended to fund start-ups, advancements, and innovation within specific industries. The applicant must own a business in one of the following industries: Lumber; Newspaper/media; Food service; Arts; Arms; Vehicles; Manufacturing; or Tourism.
(ii) A maximum of $10,000 may be awarded through this grant.
(2) The following grant types are established under the Activity Grants category:
(a) Active Business Bonus Grant
(i) This grant is intended to encourage businesses to stay active within the town. The applicant must own a business, and must keep that business stocked, active, and operational.
(ii) A maximum of $4,000 may be awarded through this grant.
(iii) This grant must be renewed once a month if the applicant continues to desire the grant money.
5 - Grant Handling
(1) The Commerce Office is tasked with handling grant applications.
(2) The amount of money awarded for each grant is at the discretion of the Commerce Office.
6 - Oakridge Business Association
(1) Any company registered with the Office of Commerce is allowed to seek up to 30% more than the usual limit for each grant type.
