Establish International Workers’ Day within the Town of Aventura​

BE IT ENACTED by the Mayor and Council of Aventura:

1 - Short Title
(1) This Act may be cited as the 'Labour Day Act.'
(2) This Act shall be enacted immediately upon its signage.
(3) This Act has been authored by Councillor Julia Tempest.

2 - Reasons
(1) International Workers’ Day is a celebration of labourers and the working classes.
(2) The Town of Aventura must formally recognise this day as a holiday to represent our labourers and the working class.

3 - Amendments
(1) Section 5 of the Culture and Holiday Act shall be replaced with the following text:
(1) During the duration of a holiday, the Council of Aventura shall formally be adjourned and may be unadjourned early through a formal simple majority vote.
(a) Town employees are not obligated to work during the duration of a holiday.
(i) This shall exclude employees of the Office of Community, who may be recalled by the Head of Community.
(2) Due to timezones, the entire duration of the day from UTC+14 to UTC-12 shall be regarded as the holiday.
(3) The following days shall be holidays:
(a) 12 February - Aventura Carnival;
(b) 15 May - May Day;
(c) 4 October - Aventura day; and
(d) 1 May - International Workers’ Day
(4)The Office of Community is encouraged to hold themed events on these days.
