Inspector General of the Federal Reserve: Expression of Interest
OPEN POSITION
The Senate right now is looking for:
- Inspector General of the Federal Reserve
INSPECTOR GENERAL
Responsibilities of the Inspector General of the Federal Reserve as per Section 7 of the Federal Reserve Act:
- The Inspector General is appointed by a majority vote of the Senate and serves at the pleasure of the Senate, explicitly not being part of the Federal Reserve or any bank, ensuring impartial independence. Their salary is determined by Executive Order, further separating individual financial ties from the Federal Reserve.
- Has "unfiltered access" to all Federal Reserve communications. However, their communication is restricted in these channels unless authorized by the Reserve Governor. This grants them comprehensive insight while maintaining some control over official Federal Reserve communication channels.
What does the Inspector General do?
- Holds the Federal Reserve's Board of Governors accountable.,
- Addresses any and all issues to Congress related to conduct, decisions, etc. of the FED.,
- Ensures the Federal Reserve operates in the best interests of the Commonwealth and her people.,
- Report and present a mandated audit to both Congress and the general public. This report's purpose is to demonstrate that the Federal Reserve is meeting its obligations and operating lawfully.
