Amend the
Criminal Code Act

The people of the Commonwealth of Redmont, through their elected Representatives in the Congress and the force of law ordained to that Congress by the people through the constitution, do hereby enact the following provisions into law:

1 - Short Title and Enactment
(1) This Act may be cited as the 'Increased High Crimes Punishments Act'
(2) This Act shall be enacted immediately upon its signage.
(3) This Act has been authored by Gribble19.
(4) This Act has been sponsored by Representative RealImza.
(5) This Act has been co-sponsored by Senator xSyncx.

2 - Reasons
(1) To amend the Criminal Code Act to ensure that punishments for these most severe crimes are reasonable and high enough to actually discourage the crimes.

3 - Amendments
(1) Section 5.II of the Criminal Code Act shall be amended as follows:
"PART II: PROPER ADMINISTRATION OF GOVERNMENT

This Part pertains to offences that impede, obstruct, or otherwise compromise the lawful operation, authority, or integrity of government institutions, officers, or processes. It seeks to uphold responsible governance and the proper conduct of public affairs.

1 - Corruption
Offence Type: Indictable
Penalty: Up to 250 1000 Penalty Units; Up to 120 min imprisonment; Up to 2 months disqualification from public office
A person commits an offence if the person:
(a) uses a government position to gain an unfair advantage for oneself or another, inconsistent with official duty.

2 - Political Espionage
Offence Type: Indictable
Penalty: Up to 200 1000 Penalty Units; Up to 60 120 min imprisonment; Up to 2 months disqualification from office
A person commits an offence if the person:
(a) gathers, infiltrates, or compromises any sensitive political information that has not already been released to the public.

3 - Electoral Fraud
Offence Type: Indictable
Penalty: Up to 250 1000 Penalty Units (per alternate account, if applicable); Up to 120 min imprisonment; Up to 2 months disqualification from office
A person commits an offence if the person:
(a) rigs or meddles with an election through the use of alternate accounts, bribery, threats, or similar conduct.

4 - Treason
Offence Type: Indictable
Penalty: Up to 250 1000 Penalty Units; Up to 120 min imprisonment; Up to 2 months disqualification from office
A person commits an offence if the person:
(a) maliciously sabotages or undermines the stability, sovereignty, or national security of the Government of Redmont.

5 - Bribery
Offence Type: Indictable
Penalty: Up to 100 1000 Penalty Units; Up to 10 120 min imprisonment; Up to 2 months disqualification from office
A person commits an offence if the person:
(a) offers, gives, solicits, or receives an item or service of value to influence an individual holding public office or serving in a legal capacity.

(2) Section 5.III.10 of the Criminal Code Act shall be amended as follows:

"10 - Breach of Integrity
Offence Type: Indictable
Penalty: Up to 200 1000 Penalty Units; Up to 120 min imprisonment; Up to 2 months disqualification from office
A person commits an offence if the person:
(a) shares classified information without authorisation.
