Establish Honours and Awards for the Town of Aventura​

BE IT ENACTED by the Mayor and Council of Aventura:

1 - Short Title
(1) This Act may be cited as the 'Honours and Awards Act.'
(2) This Act shall be enacted immediately upon its signage.
(3) This Act has been authored by Councillor Julia Tempest.

2 - Reasons
(1) The Town of Aventura has no formal honours or awards.
(2) This bill intends to fix that.

3 - Records of Honours and Awards
(1) The Office of Administration shall be charged with keeping a record of all honours and awards given out in accordance with this act.

4 - Order of Aventura
(1) The Order of Aventura shall be a ceremonial order of citizens who have been knighted for contributions to the Town of Aventura and are entitled to a pre-nominal and post-nominal title.
(2) The Mayor of Aventura may award an Order of Aventura at any time.
(3) Indviduals awarded with an Order of Aventura may use the pre-nominal of Sir (masculine), Dame (feminine), or Knight (gender-neutral).
(4) Individuals awarded with an Order of Aventura may use the post-nominal of OA.

5 - Executive Awards
(1) Executive Awards may be given out at any time.

(2) Key to the Town of Aventura
(a) Awarded by the Mayor of Aventura.
(b) May only be awarded two times during a mayoral term.
(c) Awarded for exceptional achievement and outstanding service to the Town of Aventura.

(3) Book of Aventura
(a) Awarded by the Chief of Staff of the Office of Administration.
(b) May only be awarded three times during a mayoral term.
(c) Awarded for exceptional achievement and outstanding service to the Office.

(4) Fish of Aventura
(a) Awarded by the Head of Community.
(b) May only be awarded three times during a mayoral term.
(c) Awarded for exceptional achievement and outstanding service to the Office.

(5) Hammer of Aventura
(a) Awarded by the Head of Development.
(b) May only be awarded three times during a mayoral term.
(c) Awarded for exceptional achievement and outstanding service to the Office.

(6) Esquireship of Aventura
(a) Awarded by the Head of Legal Affairs.
(b) May only be awarded three times during a mayoral term.
(c) Awarded for exceptional achievement and outstanding service to the Office and/or to the legal scene.
(d) Individuals awarded with an Esquireship of Aventura may use the post-nominals of Esquire (shortened to Esq.).
