How do you plan on using your grant funding?
Monkey Financial is Redmont's latest proprietary investment firm and (hopefully) hedge fund. Our mission is to identify market inefficiencies and allocate capital to them when the market is still ripe for exploitation. However, we are currently suffering from poverty and have on paper negative equity due to a somewhat poorly made loan decision, hence we humbly request the DOC be generous benefactors to our latest project(s).

If granted, the grant will be distributed as follows:
- Acquiring an empty s-plot: 80k
- Luxury construction services for said s-plot: 30k
- Art purchases to increase the value of the s-plot: 15k
- Real return swaps: 30k
- Copper Drill (6x): 30k

Currently, we are looking at using the funds for flipping s-plots, which have currently become toxic assets due to threats of eviction. As such, if possible, we would like to be considered for receiving part of our grant from the Construction pool too. We plan to quickly design and develop admissible, extremely high-quality buildings to attract high-quality bidders, who are hopefully cash-rich and active enough to keep the plot useful (ideally in residential regions) and keep it from being evicted or falling into misuse. The art is meant as a signal ( Signalling (economics) - Wikipedia ) to show the quality of the plot and hopefully increase the value of the plot by more than the costs, as well as provide a public service by keeping integrating it into the public areas of the finished building, allowing every citizen to enjoy the arts instead of having it being locked up in a wealthy collector's private plot. Many buildings look so much more alive by having art, and my vision for our (currently imaginary) s-plot would ideally include it.

Additionally, as we plan on hedging our risks and market exposure through swaps since we are a hedge fund, especially due to my conjecture that the beta between our primary investment category (equities) and real estate is high, largely due to comovement effects. As return swaps for real estate are a novel, highly leveraged and potentially risky instrument, we may require a large upfront capital commitment to attract speculators to take the other side of our hedge. Our goal is to develop s-plots, not speculate on the collapse (or lack thereof) of the real estate market, so these swaps will allow us to isolate our risk priorities. I would like to emphasize that we will not speculate with these swaps, but only use it to strictly manage risk.

Finally, copper drills are an uncorrelated asset that synergize well with the rest of our portfolio for this reason, providing portable alpha to further reduce risk. We are planning to rent drills to new players with $0 down which will provide easy access to the mining industry for new players. I believe that a previous grant has already promised to do something similar, but it is currently inactive.
