COMMONWEALTH OF REDMONT




A BILL TO

AMEND THE ELECTORAL ACT TO SHORTEN THE ELECTION CYCLE



The people of the Commonwealth of Redmont, through their elected Representatives in the Congress and the force of law ordained to that Congress by the people through the constitution, do hereby enact the following provisions into law:

PART I — PRELIMINARIES

1. Short Title and Enactment


(1) This Act may be cited as the 'Congress Election Shortening Act'

(2) This Act shall be enacted immediately upon its signage.

(3) This Act has been authored by former Representative malka.

(4) This Act has been co-sponsored by Senator Smami.

(5) This Act amends the following acts:

(a) Electoral Act

2. Reasons and Intent

(1) General perception is that elections consume too much time.

(2) Caretaker periods stall the government, preventing progress for a significant portion of the month.

(3) Campaign cycles for general elections drag on, resulting in burnout from elected officials before assuming office.

PART II — Amendments

3. Electoral Act Amendments


(1) Section 4(5) of the Electoral Act shall be amended as follows:

"4 - Electoral Terms and Limitations

(5) Unless otherwise provided, General Presidential and Congressional Elections will operate on a ten-day seven-day cycle during an election month, where:

(a) Declaration Period. Seven-day-long declaration period between the first to the seventh day of the month. A four-day-long declaration period between the first to the fourth day of the month.

(b) Voting Period. three-day-long declaration period between the seventh to the tenth day of the month. A three-day-long voting period between the fourth to the seventh day of the month.

(c) Announcement Period. Election results are released at the earliest opportunity on the tenth seventh day of the month."
