Firm Name
Winters
Which grant pool are you applying for?
Construction
How do you plan on using your grant funding?
This is a combination of both an Innovation/Start Up and a Construction
I have designed a building which can act as both an apartment complex & business. The upstairs consists of well furnished apartments, which old and new players alike, can rent. These apartments consist of quality decorations, while also having an area for players to use to place stuff, etc thus having a level of practicality generally unseen in many furnished apartments.
The lower levels will primarily be used for chestshops. Each floor will possess a specific industry or industries, though I primarily intend on starting with farming goods and mining materials before moving forwards. Suppliers, initially aimed towards trade jobs which younger players utilize, have the opportunity to rent an apartment (and set their /home), while also be able to sell materials all in the same building. Players will be able to act as 'contractors'. These materials can be bought by any player. The purchasing price will not be significantly higher than the selling price, allowing 'contractors' to make good money, while also allowing Winters to continue funding its operations. I do plan on extending this business out to other industries in the future. But for now, to establish 'trust' with the DOC in regards to this business, I plan on merely having the building pasted in, setting up chest shops within the farming and mining industry, and having an initial fund in Winters for players to sell to (if I have enough space, I may add another industry like wood/logging).
I plan to establish Winters as a quality apartment complex combined with a trade hub close to spawn, with a plot already selected.
By investing in the infrastructure of Winters, I plan on establishing a strong foundation in the long term. The grant funds will have an essential impact in Winters by providing residential apartments while ensuring financial stability. I believe this business will generally be unprofitable for me in the beginning (and profitable for other players), but as more and more players start buying in addition to selling, I'll be able to maintain operations.
Breakdown:
Construction: $20,000 - associated with construction costs/paste fee as the build is (barely) below 25k blocks (I'll also be contributing/purchasing materials with my own finances, which should cost me $4-5K)
Innovation/startup: $15,000 - associated with initial fund for Winters, it'll essentially be sitting in the business account (I'll also be matching this amount in the beginning, so the business account should be around $30,000 by the start of operation)
Ideal Grant Amount $35,000
If awarded, I intend to use the grant money allocated to me for its intended purpose on which it was approved for, and provide a breakdown in my application thread of how the funding was used.
