BILL
To

Amend the Constitution

The people of the Commonwealth of Redmont, through their elected Representatives and Senators in the Congress and the force of law ordained to that Congress by the people through the constitution, do hereby enact the following provisions into law:

1 - Short Title and Enactment
(1) This Act may be cited as the “Senatorial Seniority Amendment”.
(2) This Act shall be enacted immediately upon its signage.
(3) Authored by hugebob23456.
(4) Co-Sponsored by awwwimnicki and Bubba_Tea_.

2 - Reasons
(1) The Senate was created to review legislation passed by the House, to ensure that “bad bills” are not passed into law.
(2) To do this, the Senate was meant to be composed of older, more experienced politicians.
(3) In practice, many Senators have been first term politicians. While these people are not necessarily incompetent, the purpose of the Senate is to be a place of seniority, experience, and review.
(4) The clause allowing people who have previously served as Senators to run for the Senate is to grandfather in people who are currently serving as first term politicians in the Senate.
(5) To run for the Senate, you must have previously held the position of Representative, Senator, President, Vice President, Secretary, or other Senate confirmed Principal Officer position.

3 - Terms
(1) The Constitution is amended as follows:

  • Has accrued 72 hours playtime and 12 hours of playtime within the last 30 days prior to declaring their intent to contest the election on the forums
