Set rules in place for Press Releases

The people of the Commonwealth of Redmont, through their elected Representatives in the Congress and the force of law ordained to that Congress by the people through the Constitution, do hereby enact the following provisions into law:

1 - Short Title and Enactment
(1) This Act may be cited as the 'Press Release Limitations Act'.
(2) This Act shall be enacted immediately upon its signage.
(3) This Act has been authored by Rep. Yeet_Boy.
(4) This Act has been co-sponsored by Rep. 1950minecrafter.

2 - Reasons
(1) There is no enforceable regulation on Press Releases currently, so Congresspeople can post advertisements or campaigns and label them as Press Releases.

3 - Format & Definition
(1) A Press Release is defined as 'an official statement from a Congress member, made public through the #press-releases channel in the Congress discord'.
(2) The format for a proper Press Release is as follows:

PRESS RELEASE
Office of Rep. Example

Title

Body

Signature / Sign off

4 - Regulations & Limitations
(1) The purpose of a Press Release is to provide the media, and by extension the public, information. This information should be relevant to the office that the person posting the Press Release holds.*
(a) A press release should be used for relevant information such as, but not limited to, the reasoning of one's vote, or explaining their position in an event that has taken place within the chambers or a Press Conference announcement.
* The office from which they have permission to post an official Press Release.
(2) A Press Release should not contain any of the following:
(i) Significant bias towards one or more political parties, or any message that may encourage players to join a political party;
(ii) Advertisements of any type;
(iii) Links outside of official DC sites, such as the wiki, official Discord servers, or forums;
or
(iv) Promotion towards a political campaign, including endorsements.

If a Press Release is found to contain any of these elements, it may be struck by the relevant Presiding Officer.
