BILL
TO
Amend the Corruption and Espionage Offenses Act and expand the definition of Perjury.
The people of DemocracyCraft, through their elected Representatives in Congress and the force of law ordained to that Congress by the people through the constitution, do hereby enact the following provisions into law:
1 - Short Title and Enactment
(1) This Act may be cited as the 'Perjury Expansion Act'
(2) This Act shall be enacted immediately upon its signage.
(3) This Act was written by Dartanman
(4) This Act has been proposed by bibsfi4a
(5) This Act has been co-sponsored by: Senator Zlost and Representative Crytiee.
2 - Reasons
(1) It should be illegal to knowingly lie to investigative authorities throughout the course of an investigation.
3 - Terms
(1) Under “(3) Perjury”
Change:
“The act of giving knowingly incorrect testimony in Court.”
To
“The act of giving knowingly incorrect testimony in Court or knowingly providing incorrect information to Congress, the Department of Justice, the Department of Legal Affairs, or the Department of Commerce in relation to an ongoing investigation.”
4 - Clarity Clause
(1) Refusing to answer a question is not providing incorrect information.
(2) Because of this, it does not violate the Constitutional right against being forced to produce self-incriminating evidence.
