CONGRESS OF THE
COMMONWEALTH OF REDMONT
A BILL TO
AMEND LAWS REGARDING DEPRIVATION OF LIBERTY
The people of the Commonwealth of Redmont, through their elected Representatives in the Congress and the force of law ordained to that Congress by the people through the constitution, do hereby enact the following provisions into law:
PART I — PRELIMINARIES
1. Short Title and Enactment
(1) This Act may be cited as the "No Confinement Act"
(2) This Act shall be enacted immediately upon its signage.
(3) This Act has been authored by MJL_.
(4) This Act has been co-sponsored by Stanley582.
(5) This Act amends the following acts:
(a) Criminal Code Act
(b) Redmont Civil Code Act
2. Reasons and Intent
(1) Deprivation of Liberty, as an indictable crime, is generally not worth pursuing for the Department of Justice since the fines gained from it are particularly small.
(2) Established precedent in TheVeryBoredCat v. Town of Aventura [2026] DCR 56 has shown the current act of deprivation of liberty is functionally impossible given the ability all players have to warp at any time. However, confining someone in a box, on its own, is a minor inconvenience that should be addressed in law.
(3) False Imprisonment is added as a civil law tort to accompany Deprivation of Liberty. Damages for it are set reasonably low and match criminal fines.
PART II — AMENDMENTS
1. Amendments.
(1) Section 5 of Part IV of the Criminal Code Act is repealed and the following is substituted in lieu thereof:
"5 - Deprivation of Liberty
Offence Type:
Penalty: 2 Penalty Units; 10 minutes imprisonment; Additionally:
(a) If a firearm was used: 1 firearms license strike
A person commits an offence if the person:
(a) unlawfully confines a player or another player's tamed pet without consent
(b) holds another player against their will, including under threat or ransom.
Relevant Law: Act of Congress - /Firearms Licensing Act"
(2) Part XII of the Redmont Civil Code Act is amended by adding the following section:
"11. Improper Confinement
Violation Type: Intentional
Remedy: Up to 2 Civil Penalty Units
A person commits a violation if the person:
(a) unlawfully confines a player without consent; or
(b) holds another player against their will, including under threat or ransom.
This violation shall not occur where:
(c) the defendant has already been found liable for Wrongful Arrest or Detention for the same conduct.

PART III — TRANSITORY DISPOSITIONS
1. Onset Clause
Part II, §1(2) shall only enter into effect upon the passing of a congressional resolution to the effect of Congress being satisfied with the state of the relevant crime plug in, and only after the passage of such Resolution, may this amendment to the RCCA be implemented.
