COMPLAINT
The Plaintiff complains against the Defendant as follows:
WRITTEN STATEMENT FROM THE PLAINTIFF:
A player approached me claiming to operate a private financial institution called “Inner Bank.” They presented it as a legitimate, player‑run bank where I could deposit money for safekeeping or potential interest. Based on the information they provided, I believed the bank was real and operating within server rules. I deposited 4,000 DC dollars into Inner Bank as instructed. Shortly after my deposit, the DemocracyCraft government publicly announced that Inner Bank was not a legitimate or recognized financial institution. They confirmed that the player running it was operating a fake bank in violation of server rules. Immediately following this announcement, the individual responsible for Inner Bank:
- Deleted their Discord channel
- Removed all public information about the bank
- Disappeared from communication
- Kept my 4,000 DC dollars without returning it
- At no point did the individual attempt to refund my money or provide any explanation
- The actions taken by this player constitute intentional deception and financial fraud within the server.
I. PARTIES
1. HailMaryPilot (Plaintiff)
2. Inner Enterprises(Defendant)
3. _zuq (Individual whom the Plaintiff was instructed to deposit funds to)
II. FACTS
1a. $4000 was deposited to _zuq, as instructed by the Defendant.
1b. The deposit was verified by the Defendant.
2. On the 27th of June, 2026, at 11:05 am AEST, the Department of Commerce issued a public warning and enforcement notice regarding Inner Enterprises.
3. It was announced that the Defendant was not registered as an incorporated financial institution, nor was it insured.
4. The following action was taken as announced by the announcement stated above:
- Cease and Desist ordered
- Freeze order placed
- Records and preservation demand issued
- Criminal referral sent to Department of Justice
III. CLAIMS FOR RELIEF
1. Plaintiff claims that the Defendant has committed Conversion.
As defined in the Redmont Civil Code act, this offence is committed when the individual:
(a) wrongfully takes, obtains, or withholds property from an owner; and
(b) intends to deprive the owner of the property or to appropriate it to themselves or a third party; and
(c) the wrongful taking, obtaining, or withholding is committed by:
(i) stealing property with the intent to permanently deprive the owner; or
(ii) obtaining property through deception, lies, or false statements; or
(iii) embezzlement or obtaining property by false pretences; or
(iv) knowingly acquiring lost property without taking reasonable measures to return it to the owner; or
(v) obtaining property by false promise pursuant to a scheme to defraud; or
(vi) extortion.
The Plaintiff claims the Defendant has wrongfully taken and withheld property (funds) from them, and that they have obtained the property through deception.
2. Any other claims the court sees fit.
IV. PRAYER FOR RELIEF
The Plaintiff seeks the following from the Defendant:
1. Plaintiff seeks $4000 for the funds entrusted to the Defendant, and their failure to return it.
2. Plaintiff seeks $4000 for not being able to use the funds during the time that it has been deprived of him.
3. Plaintiff seeks $1000 for emotional distress caused when informed that his funds were taken from him through deception.
In total, Plaintiff seeks $9000 (+Legal fees)
