COMMONWEALTH OF REDMONT
A BILL TO
Decrease the Bureaucratic Burden of OCA Payments
The people of the Commonwealth of Redmont, through their elected Representatives in the Congress and the force of law ordained to that Congress by the people through the constitution, do hereby enact the following provisions into law:
PART I — PRELIMINARIES
1. Short Title and Enactment
(1) This Act may be cited as the ‘Fix OCA Spending Act’
(2) This Act shall be enacted immediately upon its signage.
(3) This Act has been authored by DoLA NullaPoene.
(4) This Act has been sponsored by Deputy Speaker HatManMC.
(4) This Act has been co-sponsored by Speaker _GreyMC.
(5) This Act amends the following acts:
(a) Legislative Standards Act
2. Reasons and Intent
(1) Paying clerks and other OCA staff for their work is unnecessarily complicated by the need to pass a Motion to Fund for spending.
(2) By making the OCA a separate governmental entity, which is funded by congress in large batches, the bureaucratic burden can be significantly eased.
PART II — Amendments
4. Amendments to the LSA
(1) Section 6 shall be amended as follows:
6 - The Office of Congressional Affairs
(1) The Office of Congressional Affairs is a statutory bodystatutory governmental entity which provides both chambers of congress with impartial administrative support.
(i) The director of the governmental entity shall be the Director of Legislative Affairs.
(9) The Presiding Officers fund the OCA's activities through provisions in the Legislative budget.
PART III — Temporary Appropriations
5. Appropriations to the newly formed OCA Governmental Entity
(1) The newly formed OCA shall be appropriated $30,000 from the Legislative Budget for its operations in the month of August.
