Executive Order 13/16 - Presidential Press Corps



By the authority vested in me by the Redmont Constitution
I, Technofied, President of the Commonwealth of Redmont, do declare the following under this Executive Order:




Whereas, it is desirable that we maintain a professional working relationship with journalists.

Whereas, it is desirable that government announcements are available through in-game means.​





Section 1. Presidential Press Corps

  1. The Presidential Press Corps (PPC) is hereby created as a group within the Cabinet under the direct authority of the office of the President to handle the public relations and information release of the executive.
  2. The PPC will be composed of the following individuals
    1. The President and Vice President
    2. The Press Secretary
    3. Any persons hired to the Presidential Press Corps
  3. The PPC will have the exclusive ability to represent the Cabinet,or any part of it, in the following channels:
    1. #news, including giving any statements on behalf of any department
    2. #exec-press
    3. Any other channels that the Press Secretary deems requiring a higher standard of communication
  4. The PPC will have the following responsibilities:
    1. Be the primary point of contact for the public relations of the Cabinet, or any part of it, including requests from journalists.
    2. Creating promotional material to educate or inform the public about the executive, including public programs, hiring, and services.
    3. Running opinion polls to gather public opinion on policy matters.
    4. Creating or handling any other non-campaign material that the Press Secretary requires.
  5. Any of the President, Vice President, and Press Secretary may hire, manage, discipline, and fire members of the PPC.
    1. The President retains final authority on employee management decisions.
  6. Employees of the PPC must follow the PPC Code of Ethics when exercising their privileges as an employee.
    1. Employees who violate the Code of Ethics may be warned, suspended, or fired depending on the severity of the violation and past violations.
  7. The President maintains the ability to correct or modify any statements made by any other member of the PPC.


Section 2. Presidential Press Corps Code of Ethics

  1. When representing the PPC, an employee:
    1. Should strive to ensure that information disseminated is honestly conveyed, accurate and fair.
    2. Does their utmost to correct harmful inaccuracies.
    3. Differentiates between fact and opinion.
    4. Follows and understands the classification of the material they are viewing and disseminating.
    5. Remains respectful at all times.
    6. Remains neutral in matters of commercial products or political campaigns.
    7. Avoids both plagiarism and excessive use of Artificial Intelligence (AI).
    8. Aims to use proper formatting as required.
    9. Does not monetise any content solely designed for use by the PPC.
  2. Journalists who participate in using #exec-press are required to maintain the following ethical standards:
    1. Conduct themselves in a respectful and honest manner.
    2. Strive to correct any inaccuracies that may arise.
    3. Follows and understands the classification of any material they have access to
      1. Access to #exec-press may not be revoked due to a lawful release of classified information through whistleblower methods.
    4. Avoid plagiarism and excessive use of Artificial Intelligence (AI).
  3. The Press Secretary may define additional ethical standards at their discretion, with approval from the President.
    1. These additional ethical standards must be publicly announced and displayed within the applicable channel(s).
  4. Journalists who do not follow the above ethical standards will have their access to #exec-press removed at the discretion of the President, Vice President, or Press Secretary.
    1. Journalists who have been removed in this way may request to have their access reinstated through a written request to the Press Secretary after 30 days and every 14 days thereafter if denied.

Section 3. In-game Information​

  1. The PPC will be responsible for ensuring that major Government announcements are accessible in-game through written books.
  2. These books must be publicly available and only contain modifications that do not change the meaning of the government announcement.
    1. A minimum of the three most recent government announcements must be sold at a cost of $0.
    2. Announcements older than the above section may be sold at-cost.
    3. Books older than 30 days may be removed from sale at any time at the discretion of the Press Secretary.
  3. Major government announcements include, but are not limited to:
    1. The hiring, firing, or replacement of a Secretary.
    2. Resignations of major public figures including:
      1. The President, Vice President, or a Secretary.
      2. A Judge or Justice.
      3. The Speaker of the House.
      4. The President of the Senate.
    3. Significant policy changes.
    4. Impeachment of a public official.
    5. Congressional In-game sessions.
    6. Press Conferences.
  4. Books containing government announcements must be placed within a publicly accessible area as determined by the Press Secretary.

Section 4. Repeal & Enactment​

  1. Executive Order 01/25 - Establishing the Presidential Press Corps (PPC) is hereby repealed.
  2. This Executive Order shall apply immediately upon its signage.
  3. This Executive Order shall constitute the only binding executive policy regarding the Presidential Press Corps.
