To Amend the Criminal Code​

The people of the Commonwealth of Redmont, through their elected Representatives in the Congress and the force of law ordained to that Congress by the people through the constitution, do hereby enact the following provisions into law:

1 - Short Title and Enactment
(1) This Act may be cited as the 'Combat the Illegal Advertising Act.'
(2) This Act shall be enacted immediately upon its signage.
(3) This Act has been authored by Representative RealImza.
(4) This Act has been co-sponsored by Representative Talion77.

2 - Reasons
(1) Illegal Advertising is prevalent within the Commonwealth of Redmont.
(2) While the recently assented Illegal Advertising Fix Act does raise the punishment for Illegal Advertising, it is not enough.
(3) This bill institutes a scaled punishment for the crime of Illegal Advertising.

3 - Amendments
(1) Part IX of the Criminal Code Act is to be amended as follows:

10 - Illegal Advertising
Offence Type: Summary
Penalty: 5 Penalty Units
First Offence: 5 Penalty Units.
Second Offence: 10 Penalty Units.
Subsequent Offences: 25 Penalty Units.

A person commits an offence if the person:
(a) advertises a business or political campaign in a public chat not designated for advertising.
(b) advertises a gaming institution or gambling in a public chat designated for advertising.

Aye, a minor but good change that I believe will at least somewhat do its purpose.

Scaling offenses seems reasonable. This is not without reservation, as 25 penalty units is a bit high, but directionally I think this bill is an improvement.
