COUNCIL OF AVENTURA
A BILL TO
ESTABLISH THE AVENTURA NEWS COMPANY
Creating an official weekly newspaper centered on the affairs, events, and public life of Aventura.
BE IT ENACTED by the Mayor and Council of Aventura:
1 - Short Title and Enactment
(1) This Act may be cited as the “Aventura News Company Act.”
(2) This Act shall be enacted immediately upon its signage.
(3) This Act has been authored by Just_Jada
2 - Reasons
(1) A weekly newspaper shall improve communication regarding public affairs, events, and policy changes occurring throughout Aventura.
(2) A dedicated news company shall encourage community involvement through article submissions, event coverage, and public engagement.
3 - Establishment of the Aventura News Company
(1) The Aventura News Company is hereby established as the official newspaper organization of Aventura.
(2) The company shall be responsible for publishing a newspaper on a weekly basis.
(3) The primary purpose of the newspaper shall be to cover events, developments, and matters relating directly to Aventura.
(4) Residents may submit tips, story leads, and relevant information for consideration by the paper.
(5) The only exception to Aventura-centered reporting shall be presidential elections or equivalent federal matters that may directly affect Aventura.
4 - Newspaper Sections
(1) Each weekly edition shall contain the following sections:
(a) Breaking News: including impeachments, elections, urgent announcements, and other major developments.
(b) Local News: including construction projects, public works, ordinances, policy changes, and municipal updates.
(c) Business Advertising: advertisements purchased by businesses or residents.
(i) Advertisement pricing shall be set between $200 and $600 per advertisement.
(d) Events: coverage of event results, announcements, and upcoming activities.
(e) Weekly Opinions and Gossip: objective roleplay-focused commentary and community interest stories.
(f) Weekly Favorite Art Piece: selected by public poll.
5 - Staffing and Organization
(1) The paper shall be led by an Editor-in-Chief.
(2) The Editor-in-Chief must be a sitting Councilor of Aventura OR appointed by the Council
6 - Hiring and Compensation
(1) A total startup allocation of $100,000 shall be provided for establishment and operation of the Aventura News Company.
(2) Journalists shall be compensated based on article length as follows:
(a) 100–200 words: $600
(b) 201–399 words: $1000
(c) 400+ words: $2500
(3) To be considered for employment as a Journalist, applicants must submit one article between 100 and 200 words on an Aventura-related topic for review.
7 - Media Distribution
(1) The Aventura News Company may operate an official news channel for distribution of articles and announcements.
(2) Such distribution may be connected with the primary Aventura communication channels as determined appropriate by the Council.
