To
Establish the Military Decorations of Aventura
BE IT ENACTED by the Council of Aventura:
1 - Short Title
(1) This By-Law may be cited as the "Aventura Military Decorations Act."
(2) This By-Law shall take effect immediately upon passage by the Council.
2 - Reasons
(1) The Government of Aventura recognizes the importance of formally recognizing exceptional service, achievement, valor, and dedication within the Organized Militia.
(2) This By-Law establishes the official military decorations of Aventura.
3 - Military Decorations
(1) The following military decorations are hereby established for members of the Organized Militia:
(a) Medal of Aventura
(i) The highest military decoration of Aventura.
(ii) Awarded for extraordinary heroism, leadership, or service.
(b) Distinguished Service Medal
(i) Awarded for exceptionally meritorious service to the Organized Militia.
(c) Commendation Medal
(i) Awarded for noteworthy achievement, leadership, or service.
(d) Combat Action Ribbon
(i) Awarded for participation in combat operations.
(e) Deployment Ribbon
(i) Awarded for participation in an official deployment.
4 - Awarding Authority and Classes
(1) Decorations established under this Act shall be divided into three classes based upon the authority required to award them.
(2) Class I Decorations may be awarded by the Commanding Officer of a regiment or equivalent military unit.
(a) Class I Decorations shall consist of:
(i) Commendation Medal;
(ii) Combat Action Ribbon; and
(iii) Deployment Ribbon.
(3) Class II Decorations may be awarded by the Mayor of Aventura acting as Commander-in-Chief or Commander-in-Chief.
(a) Class II Decorations shall consist of:
(i) Distinguished Service Medal.
(4) Class III Decorations may only be awarded by majority motion of the Council of Aventura.
(a) Class III Decorations shall consist of:
(i) Medal of Aventura.
(5) Class III Decorations shall require a majority vote of the Council prior to being awarded.
(6) The awarding authority may issue an official citation detailing the reasons for the award.
