The people of the Commonwealth of Redmont, through their elected Representatives in the Congress and the force of law ordained to that Congress by the people through the constitution, do hereby enact the following provisions into law:

PART I - PRELIMINARIES

1. Short Title and Enactment
(1) This Act may be cited as the ‘Anti Animal Abuse Act’ or ‘AAAA’
(2) This Act shall be enacted immediately upon its signage.
(3) This Act has been authored by sonofalancer and Dogen851
(4) This Act has been sponsored by Representative Dogen851
(5) This Act amends to following acts:
(a) Criminal Code Act.

2. Reasons and Intent
(1) Pets are not cared about enough. Pets should be treated with more respect and crimes involving pets should be punished more harshly.
(2) The wording for Pet and Animal Overcrowding is very unclear, which this Act fixes. It’s unclear what counts as one offence of Overcrowding, and some of the formatting is wrong.

3. Definitions

(1) For the purposes of this Act, the following definitions shall apply:

(a) Pet. A vanilla mob defined as a pet by the DOI or a pet accessible via the ingame command /pets.

(b) DOI. The Department of Interior

(c) Confiscation. DOI seizing the pet in question

PART II - AMENDMENTS

(1) Part IV of the Criminal Code Act shall be amended as follows:
7 - Public Slaughter of an Animal
Offence Type: Summary
Penalty: 1 Penalty Unit; 5 min imprisonment
A person commits an offence if the person:
(a) kills an animal in a public space.
This offence shall not occur if:
(b) the murder happened on property the killer owned, rented or is added to.
(a) Sections 7 through 13 shall be increased by 1.

(2) Part VIII, Section 3 of the Criminal Code Act shall be amended as follows:
3 - Pet Overcrowding
Offence Type: Summary
Penalty: 1 Penalty Unit per pet; confiscation of animal(s) by the Department of the Interior
A person commits an offence if the person:
(a) fails to provide minimum space as defined by the Department of the Interior for pets.
Relevant Law:

(3) Part VIII, Section 4 of the Criminal Code Act shall be amended as follows:
4 - Animal Overcrowding
Offence Type: Summary
Penalty:
(a) First offence - 10.25 Penalty Units per animal; Confiscation of animal(s) by the Department of the Interior;
(b) AdditionalSubsequent offences - 30.5 Penalty Units per animal; Confiscation of animal(s) by the Department of the Interior; Eviction
(i) Only once the animals from the first offence have been confiscated, a person may be charged with subsequent offences.
A person commits an offence if the person fails to provide the minimum space as defined by the Department of the Interior.
A person commits an offence if the person:
(a) fails to provide the minimum space as defined by the Department of the Interior for animals.

(4) Part X of the Criminal Code Act shall be amended as follows:
8 - Pet Advertising
Offence Type: Summary
Penalty:
First Offence - 5 Penalty Units.
Second Offence - 10 Penalty Units; Confiscation of Pet.
Subsequent Offence - 20 Penalty Units; Confiscation of Pet.
A person commits an offence if the person:
(a) advertises a business, goods, or political campaign, by naming a pet.
(i) a pet, in this case, is a vanilla mob defined as a pet by the Department of the Interior policy, or a pet accessible by the command /pets.
(a) Sections 8 through 17 shall be increased by 1.
