A
BILL
To
Reduce the number of abandoned pets.

The people of the Commonwealth of Redmont, through their elected Representatives in the Congress and the force of law ordained to that Congress by the people through the constitution, do hereby enact the following provisions into law:

1 - Short Title and Enactment
(1) This Act may be cited as the “Abandoned Pets Are Not Cool Act"
(2) This Act shall be enacted immediately upon its signage.
(3) This bill was authored by Representative A__C.
(4) This Act is co-sponsored by Senator sleepyjay_.
(5) This bill was requested by Deputy Secretary of Environment & Recreation VerySmolBirb.
(6) This bill was approved by Environment Secretary Teuntje1234567.

2 - Reasons
(1) Abandoned pets are not cool. Having a fine to retrieve abandoned pets will give incentive to not abandoning them in the first place.

3 - Terms
(1) Creates a new law under 9.0 - Wilderness & Wildlife:
9.8 - Pet Abandonment
The act of leaving a stray pet in an area without the consent of the property owner.
Per Offence: Pet taken to shelter with a $20 fee per pet upon release.

(2) If there is no property owner in the area (spawn, university, etc.) then it will be considered abandoned.
(3) In the event that a pet is on owned property that does not belong to the pet owner, the Ranger must ask for confirmation of consent (or lack thereof) before taking the pet to the shelter.
(4) This hereby repeals the Pet Abandon Act September 2021 (as it wasn’t being used and was hard to regulate).
