The Making the Constitution Inclusive Act replaces “his or her” in Section 45 of the Constitution with “the President’s”. This makes sure the definition of an Executive Order describes the office itself, not an assumption about who holds it, so it applies equally to any President.

It’s a small change, but it removes the last gendered wording from our Constitution and keeps the document consistent and welcoming to every citizen.

Overall, this is a tidy and sensible update that keeps our Constitution inclusive without changing how the presidency works.

I thank Representative eatean for authoring this bill, and Senator HatManMC and Deputy Speaker EmeraldGuuy for cosponsoring it, and Congress for passing it.

This bill has been granted assent and will now proceed to a referendum.
