OPEN POSITIONS
We are right now looking for a number of people to fill the following positions:
- Clerk
- Press Assistant

CLERK
Clerks are vital to congressional operations and manage all of the admin work that needs to be done in order to comply with existing laws and ensure the smooth running of the Office. The only requirement is to have Discord!

Some of the duties of a clerk include:
- Making all necessary changes to the law, in accordance with amendments
- Assist the Speaker and the President of the Senate with their administrative duties
- Assist with the Management of the Office of Congressional Affairs

PRESS ASSISTANT
The Press Assistant operates the congressional press operations and other similar work to ensure that the public remains informed on congressional matters. Similarly to the Clerk, the only requirement is to have Discord!

Some of the duties of the Congressional Press Assistant include:
- Informing the public of recently signed Bills
- Assist the Presiding Officers in setting up Congressional Press Conferences
- Managing and creating Congressional Transparency Reports

Which role are you expressing interest for: Both, I think both roles are interesting and fit into my work area.

What can you bring to the role: I was a clerk in Alexandria for a while now and also served as a representative for 1.5 terms. I am familiar with the standing orders and the processes of the Congress and with my clerk activities in Alexandria already gained experience in this field. I am good in communicating and a perfectionist. (if that is good or not is your decision : )) I also we're DSotH for two weeks. (Let's don't talk about that)

What tasks are you looking forward to do: I think all above stated tasks are nice and I look forward to do them. But especially I like documenting what happens in the congress and amending bills that need to, on the other hand I am also looking forward to strengthen the public appearance of the Congress by regularly giving updates of the Congress and communicating with the public using press conferences, etc.

Mainly administrative tasks.

I've always had a love and passion for these; many people call them boring, and from a certain point of view, they're correct. But I believe that's what gives these tasks the charm that makes them interesting.

- General -​

I can fulfill all tasks given to me very precisely. I can also be very patient and deal with not so nice people, while keeping my emotions to myself. I will have no problems remaining neutral as I am not a Member of any Party, employed or in the leadership of any company and not a Member or associated with any other form of Organisation. I am also pretty responsive at most times if I am not sleeping and if I will be unavailable because I am on vacation or similar, I will take a proper Leave of Absence.

- Clerk -​

I have already worked as Parliamentarian in StateCraft and have managed some Clerk duties on that job as well as our Clerk took a LoA for quite some time. I am also a Member of Parliament in SC at the moment and have written quite a few bills. I know how to handle procedures quite well at this point. I am also very attentive and notice small details being wrong. I think I could assist very well in keeping order on the forums by keeping bills up to date.​

- Press Assistant -​

I was the first Press Advisor of StateCraft on the Cabinet CasualGreyKnight. One of my core tenants is that politics is about a lot—Policy Making, Arguments, Campaigning—but that the most important aspect is Communication. Informing the public and explaining to the public. Beyond that, I am pretty good in writing and in finding compact and understandable formats for that writing.​

What tasks are you looking forward to do:

As I said, I already was Parliamentarian for some time over on SC. And as much as I do enjoy being a full MP now (I gained a seat mid term due to the SpeakR-Act), there is some little satisfaction missing to just keep things running smoothly, not worrying about partisan shenanigans. Also, I am quite distant from DC at the moment and with this I could gain some footing again.

What can you bring to the role: Although I've never been in Congress, I have experience with writing and reviewing legislation. I have a thorough knowledge of Redmont's legislation and an eye for detail. I have been told by people from across party lines that I am good at reviewing legislation and identifying potential issues with legislation. I furthermore have experience in roles that require you to be precise and unbiased, such as in my role as Electoral Officer. Examples of some laws that I've assisted in reviewing which led to me being credited include the Federal Reserve Act, the Plot Regulations Act, the Electoral Act, and the Modern Legal Reform Act.

What tasks are you looking forward to do: I am most looking forward to assist with the drafting of bills, and to assist with internal review of legislation within congress for potential legal flaws and/or inconsistencies.

What can you bring to the role: At this moment in time, I haven't managed to secure a spot in Congress however I do have an affinity towards politics and want to be able to help out with all the Admin work! I have experience in doing administrative work in Redmont through the WPR, where I serve both as a member of the Central Committee and as a member of the Secretariat, which is responsible for all the general runnings of the party. I am also a member of the DoS as an Electoral Officer, requiring me to put all biases aside for the good of democratic processes while also requiring me to have good analysis skills to ensure we don't miss a single ballot.

Outwith DC, I also run a sizeable discord server and moderate for a couple. I am also a university student so I am used to doing a lot of long writing pieces where little bits of detail can be the difference between me getting an A or a B. I generally do have an eye for little details that others may miss and a passion that drives me to work to my very best. I don't really have any experience when it comes to legal writing, but I do occasionally look through bills that WPR Reps want to propose.

What tasks are you looking forward to do: I am personally looking forward to helping with the administrative side of things, from general housekeeping to making modifications to our laws based on what Congress decides to do, and also helping the folks in charge of both chambers with their day-to-day stuff so they can focus on keeping our nation running.

What can you bring to the role: I would bring a fresh and unbiased perspective, I am applying for this job in order to solely preform the task, not to benefit any party or politician. I would love to faithfully perform the duties of this office in order to help the legislative process of Redmont function smoothly! Additionally, I plan to take this job very seriously, and will endeavor to make sure that the administrative duties are performed efficiently in order for congress to be able to do their jobs!

What tasks are you looking forward to do: I would look forward to working on administrative duties as well as amending laws as consistent with what Congress passes, I would love to gain experience with reading bills and laws, and this seems like a great way to be exposed to the current laws being passed, something very pertinent for someone in the legal profession!

Additional Information: While I know that I am a relatively new player, joining within the last 2 months, I believe that I am very eager and able to take up this job! And this serves as a way for me to become engaged with the server at a lower level!

What tasks are you looking forward to do: I am particularly interested in working to maintain and update the legal codes and acts as bills and amendments are passed into law. Examples include posting signed bill updates with short summaries, pinging people to vote, setting up in-game meetings for swearing-in ceremonies or bill discussions, writing Records of Motion for Congressional Transparency, and writing and discussing legislation. (I haven't exactly been involved in the political scene for a few years, so I'm sure procedures are different, but I'm eager to see how things have changed over the years and learn some new skills.)
I can assist the Speaker and President of the Senate with various affairs such as pinging congresspeople, helping Representatives with bill formatting, writing announcements or posts as necessary, and collaborating with others within the Office of Congressional Affairs.
