CONGRESS OF THE
COMMONWEALTH OF REDMONT
A BILL TO
ESTABLISH AND REBALANCE THE HONOURS AND AWARDS SYSTEM
The people of the Commonwealth of Redmont, through their elected Representatives in the Congress and the force of law ordained to that Congress by the people through the constitution, do hereby enact the following provisions into law:
1. Short Title and Enactment
(1) This Act may be cited as the ‘Honours and Awards Act’
(2) This Act shall be enacted immediately upon its signage.
(3) This Act has been authored by xEndeavour
(4) This Act has been co-sponsored by Aladeen
(5) This Act repeals the following acts:
(a) State Commendations Act
2. Reasons and Intent
(1) Amendments to Judicial honours, as requested.
(2) Removing administrative requirements for lists, which have never been kept and which are burdensome for over twenty awards.
(3) Fixes formatting
(4) Fixes department naming
(5) Rebalances awards (the more we have the less they mean) and allows them to be awarded once per-term. Reduces from about 150 awards to 100 awards a year.
(6) Reduces duplication. We have an Order of Redmont for Service and an Order of Service. This bill moves the duplicated order to a medallic honour instead.
3. Definitions
(1) For the purposes of this Act, the following definitions shall apply:
(a) Order. An order recognises citizens for distinguished service or exceptional achievement, entitling recipients to a post-nominal title.
(b) Honour. An honour is a high distinction awarded for acts of exceptional bravery, devotion to duty, or outstanding service of national significance., often entitling the recipient to a post-nominal title.
(c) Award. An Award is a recognition granted by a government branch or department for noteworthy achievement, service, or contribution within its respective area of responsibility.
(d) Honours & Awards. Shall be construed as a reference to all orders, honours, and awards contained within this act, foreign nation equivalents, and or other acts of this commonwealth which are now repealed or superseded.

(b) Awarded for: Outstanding devotion to duty or outstanding achievement in the application of exceptional skills, judgment, or dedication.

9. Any honours or awards granted under a previous honours and awards system remain recognised by the Commonwealth and are not withdrawn by their retirement under this Act. Such honours and awards shall continue to be recognised for the reasons for which they were conferred and any associated privileges or benefits.
