To consolidate and amend the law relating to wills.
The people of Democracy Craft, through their elected Representatives in the Congress and the force of law ordained to that Congress by the people through the constitution, do hereby enact the following provisions into law:
1 - Short Title and Enactment
(1) This Act may be cited as the “Wills Act”.
(2) This Act applies to the will of any player signed on or after the date of the coming into operation of this Act.
2 - Reasons
(1) There is no legal backing behind final wills and testaments.
(2) The final will and testament forum is unused.
3 - Validity
A will is not valid unless --
(a) it is in writing;
(b) it is signed by the testator; and
(c) the testator signs the will in the presence of two players holding a current legal qualification.
(d) the will is attached to a 'goodbye post' on forums under the about me sub-forum.
4 - Execution
(1) The player will be the executor of their own will through /pay or /offlinepay and will assisted by the DEC and staff if required. Any property transfers should be done through /as resell. Any companies will need to be deregistered and recreated by the obtaining player under the same name.
(2) Any debts not cleared will be taken and liquidated equally from the assets contained within the will.
5 - Court Jurisdiction
The Court may, on application made by any player, make an order authorising —
(a) the making or alteration of a will in specific terms approved by the Court; or
(b) the revocation of the whole or any part of a will.
