How do you plan on using your grant funding?
- Payroll 3 (people currently) $1,000 - $2,500 based on article and quality. Averaging about 2 to 3 per week, is about 10 articles a week ($15-20k a week total payroll estimate, per month $60-100k)
- Expanding staff (1), we want to hire a cartoonist for a weekly cartoon, about $5,000 per newspaper due to effort, comes out at 20k per month
- Expanding staff (2), we also want to hire a puzzle maker, this could be 2k to 4k a week depending on which type of puzzle, comes out at 8-16k a month.
The rest is for incidental spending, we as journalists do not get paid for our jobs and have to completely rely on donations and people's goodwill. Some of the staff I've hired could easily start up their own newspaper or blogs, lowering the overall quality of our newspaper. With a good pay, I hope to retain these employees to keep producing the highest quality paper of Redmont.
