To
Establish the 1st Calvary Regiment of Aventura​

BE IT ENACTED by the Council of Aventura:


1 - Short Title
(1) This By-Law may be cited as the "1st Calvary Regiment of Aventura Act"
(2) This By-Law shall take effect immediately upon passage by the Council.


2 - Reasons
(1) The Government of Aventura recognizes the need for an organized militia force capable of assisting in the defence, emergency response, ceremonial functions, and security operations of the town.
(2) This By-Law establishes the first Organized Militia unit pursuant to Article VII of the Constitution of Aventura.


3 - Establishment of the Aventura Cavalry
(1) The "1st Calvary Regiment of Aventura" is hereby established as an Organized Militia regiment of Aventura.
(2) The Mayor of Aventura shall serve as Commander-in-Chief of the The 1st Calvary Regiment of Aventura unless otherwise delegated by motion.


4 - Duties and Functions
(1) The 1st Calvary Regiment of Aventura may be activated by the Mayor or by majority motion of the Council for the following purposes:
(a) assisting in the defence of Aventura;
(b) assisting government authorities during emergencies or disasters;
(c) ceremonial or public event functions

(2) Members of the 1st Calvary Regiment of Aventura shall not exercise independent law enforcement powers except where specifically authorized by law.


5 - Membership
(1) Membership in the 1st Calvary Regiment of Aventura shall be voluntary.
(2) Any resident eligible for service within the Unorganized Militia may enlist in the 1st Calvary Regiment of Aventura.


6 - Equipment and Organization
(1) The Government of Aventura may procure, distribute, regulate, or maintain equipment for use by the 1st Calvary Regiment of Aventura.
(2) The Council may appropriate funds for the maintenance and operation of the 1st Calvary Regiment of Aventura.


7 - Oath of Service
(1) Members of the 1st Calvary Regiment of Aventura are required to swear or affirm an oath to uphold the Constitution and laws of Aventura prior to active service.


8 - Regulations
(1) The Council of Aventura may adopt additional regulations governing the conduct, discipline, deployment, or administration of the 1st Calvary Regiment of Aventura by motion or subsequent by-law.
