Amend the Corporate Law and Shareholder Protections Act and White Collar Crackdown Act​

The people of Redmont, through their elected Representatives in the Congress and the force of law ordained to that Congress by the people through the constitution, do hereby enact the following provisions into law:
1 - Short Title and Enactment

1. This Act may be cited as the “RI LDV Government Trading Act”
2. This Act shall be enacted immediately upon its signage.

2 - Reasons

1. Our elected officials are currently privy to insider knowledge relating to economic reform before the general public. This bill mandates all trading of securities by members of Congress and the Cabinet be made public.

3 - Amend the Corporate Law and Shareholder Protections Act

(1) The following shall be added to “Section 2: Regulations of the Operations of Securities Exchanges”

(5) Securities Exchanges must publish the trades of members of Congress and Cabinet in a place reasonably accessible to the public. Securities Exchanges shall not be held liable for failure to report if the member government does not disclose their government position.

4 - Amending the White Collar Crackdown Act

(a) Insider Trading shall be defined as “Buying or selling a stock based on non-public information that would substantially impact a trader’s decision to buy or sell.” Any owner of a business that sells stocks of his their own company has an obligation to make a reasonable attempt to, disclose this information to the shareholders, f. Failure to do so may be considered evidence in an insider trading case. Members of the Congress and Cabinet must report their government title to securities exchanges before trading to adequately comply with the Corporate Law and Shareholder Protections Act. Failure to do so may be considered evidence in an insider trading case.
