BILL
To

Provide for Housing Security

The people of the Commonwealth of Redmont, through their elected Representatives and Senators in the Congress and the force of law ordained to that Congress by the people through the constitution, do hereby enact the following provisions into law:

1 - Short Title and Enactment
(1) This Act may be cited as the “Public Housing Act”.
(2) This Act shall be enacted immediately upon its signage.
(3) Authored by hugebob23456.
(4) Co-Sponsored by awwwimnicki and Bubba_Tea_.

2 - Reasons
(1) At present, there exists no system to ensure that there are enough affordable homes for Redmont’s people.
(2) To subsidize the growth of Towns.
(3) To generate revenue, enabling the reduction of taxes.

3 - Terms
(1) The Federal Government may, within Federal Land, designate areas owned directly by the Federal Government to be used for Public Housing.
(2) The Government shall build and maintain a minimum of 50 apartment units by January 1st 2022.
(3) The Government shall build and maintain a minimum of 100 apartment units by February 1st 2022.
(4) The cost of rent in these apartment units shall be set at a rate of $0.25 per block per day, not including vertical blocks. Example: a room with a base of 5x8 and height of 3 would have a rent price of $10 per day.
(5) Renters may rent out Public Housing units for a maximum of 72 hours at a time to prevent inactive renting.
(6) Towns may, with the approval of the Federal Government, designate areas for Public Housing. This area will become Federal Land, crediting the Town back for the claim blocks. The Federal Government may request that the Town contribute to the cost of building and/or maintaining the Public Housing, and may offer the Town a portion of the revenue generated by the Public Housing. Deals for Public Housing geographically located within Towns or within 100 blocks of a Town require the mutual consent of both the Federal and Town Governments and the terms of these deals may vary on a case by case basis.
(7) Towns are free to establish their own Public Housing programs within their own jurisdictions by whatever means they themselves establish without approval from the Federal Government.
(8) Federal Land geographically located within Towns shall be exempt from the Town build height limit.
