Press Conference 4/7
Press Advisor jorinton » Everyone, please, settle down, we are starting. I give you the President of the Commonwealth of Redmont, 1950minecrafter.
President 1950minecrafter » Good morning, afternoon of evening, dear fellow citizens of Redmont. First of all, I would like to apologize for the delay on the Conference. Due to personal matters I had to come a bit later. That being said, let's begin.
The first topic to address is the Meet the President event. This week we've had our second Meet the President event, in which more people attended than in the 1st one. I'm glad that people seem to be engaging into those. We have interesting debates and we talk about anything, political and non-political, for about 1 hour. I encourage those of you who haven't come to these past 2 to come for the 3rd one, which will take place in 2 weeks.
Following this, I would like to mention the electoral processes that have been held this week. On the one hand, we have the Aventura Mayoral election, which Anime and Katto won. I would like to congratulate on their victory and I'm looking forwards to working with them to improve towns. In fact, I can announce that both town mayors have been contacted and soon we'll be able to set up a meeting between the Executive and both towns. Other electoral processes have been referendums for various matters, such as some bills and celebrities petitions. All these processes have been run smoothly by the DOS without any incident.
On other matters, we finally have the Plots Crisis bill proposed in the House. I have to admit that I'm happy that this bill has been written with a lot of hard work and many hours of negotiations to try to find a common ground between positions that, at first, seemed impossible to agree. I believe this is a good step in the correct direction, and we hope we can all work together to keep going in that direction in future negotiations. Approval ratings have also been released and I would like to thank everyone who took part in the polls. Those polls help us, elected officials, know what's the opinion of the people about our job, so I would like to encourage you to fill in the polls.
Next thing on the list is that the DOI has announced that they are hiring rangers, so if you want to help the DOI to make sure the animals in the shelter has safe or to make sure the wilderness is well taken care of, I encourage you to apply! In the same line, the DPA has announced that they are hiring people for the DCTV. I'm excited to see how the DCTV develops once we have enough people to start it. I think it has a lot of potential.
The DOH also announced that their doctors found out a new cure for a new disease! They found out some people have been suffering from webbed feet, but they've also found out a cure: the Featherpluck Tonic! Thanks to Bardiya for discovering this cure! You can go to your nearest pharmacy to take the cure. Alright, there's just 2 things to mention and we are done. I'll try to keep it short.
Yesterday I announced an EOI for the position of Member of the Board of the FRB. If you have experience and/or knowledge on the economic and/or the financial sector, I would like to encourage you to apply for the position!
And finally, I would like to thank Trolligarch for the recently released video. I think the video made things clear from the financial sector and can be a helpful resource for those who want to get to know a bit more how is our current financial sector. As you all know, a couple of weeks ago we began enforcing the monthly reports that banks have to facilitate to the DOC and we've been and we will be very strict with that. Of course, we have also been and we are discussing about the financial sector and what needs to be done. We will also work with Congress if anything has to be done. I know Representative Omegabiebel is working on a re-work of the FRB, so once he finishes on that, I will be open to work with him and the rest of Congress and give my input when necessary. And I think that's everything for today. Thank you very much for attending and for your patience. I'll leave you know with Jorinton to answer your questions.
Press Advisor jorinton » Now is time for your questions. As always, journalists have preferential treatment.
JVC3 » I have a question!
Press Advisor jorinton » Whats your question JVC3?
JVC3 » So, not that the bank crisis has quieted down a little, I was wondering, if the banks did collapse, would the GOvernment step in and reimburse people for all the money they lost through the banks?
Press Advisor jorinton » The position of the Administration would have to be thouroughly planned. Primary concern of this Administration have always been the people. We would of course try to make sure clients who had their bank accounts with their savings didn't lose their money as much as possible. The exact position would have to be determined according to the details of the situation in question. Any further questions?
JVC3 » Ok, understood - thank you Mr press advisor!
Press Advisor jorinton » Glad to have had the chance to answer JVC3
lukadelrey » How does the administration plan to deal with the plot hoarding?
Press Advisor jorinton» A question from The Reveille Times about how the Administration plans to deal with the plot hoarding. The position of the Administration has been quite obvious. The position of the party from which me and the President are from is to set plot limits at 20, a compromise was reached in Congress with additional measures and we are proud of a compromise as a part of the democratic process. Unless we are handed the proper mandate from the citizenry, we consider this a good step. Any further questions?
qsdt » I have a question
Press Advisor jorinton » Whats your question qsdt?
qsdt » Why are the banks so scary right now.
Press Advisor jorinton » Well, as a leftist, I gotta say banks have always been scary, but in general the news inform on it quite well
Kay_Jee » I'd just like clarification on a previous answer, jorinton, if I may?
Press Advisor jorinton » Yes, Kay_Jee?
Kay_Jee » You said 20 plots as a new limit, current draft is at 30 as far as I'm aware. Has 20 become the final decision after discussions?
Press Advisor jorinton » No no, 30 is the compromise we stand by as Congress has agreed upon. 20 is the goal of the Workers Party of Redmont, which is the party me and the President are from.
Kay_Jee » Ah I see, understood, thank you.
qsdt » I also have a follow up after.
Press Advisor jorinton » qsdt whats your follow up?
qsdt » So, can we regulate banks really hard to make all the weird shit they do less legal?
Press Advisor jorinton » Well qsdt I would love to give you a simple answer. Congress is surely working on it, but no party holds a majority right now. All I can say is, the party I represent, wants to ensure banks no longer can manuever like they do. And the Administration, along with Commerce Secretary xSyncx is doing what it can under the current circumstances too.
qsdt » I see. One more follow up question. And then I'm satisfied-
Press Advisor jorinton » Go ahead qsdt.
qsdt » Will I get better at asking good questions or will this be hard for the rest of my life?
Press Advisor jorinton » Look on the bright side of it qsdt, you at least asked them, not many people do that
, practice makes perfect though!
qsdt » thanks jorinton.
lucaaasserole » I have a question for 1950-
Press Advisor jorinton » Only I take questions right now luca.
lucaaasserole » Okay. I have a question for you then. Does your administration regret choosing Yeet_boy as the running mate?
Press Advisor jorinton » All I can say to that is: in love and politics I believe people should stand by what Edith Piaf stood by: je ne regrette rien. Thank you all for the questions, I am afraid we have come to the end of our time.
President 1950minecrafter » If I could go back to February 2025, would I still choose Yeet? Yes, I would repeat the decision, because he was a good choice. But I think he could have had a better behavior since some weeks ago. And I think that's all I have to say on this.
