INCREASE THE AMOUNT OF REACTIONS NEEDED BEFORE A PETITION IS ANNOUNCED

The people of the Commonwealth of Redmont, through their elected Representatives in the Congress and the force of law ordained to that Congress by the people through the constitution, do hereby enact the following provisions into law:

PART I — PRELIMINARIES

1. Short Title and Enactment

(1) This Act may be cited as the ‘Petition Threshold Amendment Act’

(2) This Act shall be enacted immediately upon its signage.

(3) This Act has been authored by Representative Antonfr.

(4) This Act has been co-sponsored by Representative Musclebound.

(5) This Act amends the following acts:

(a) Referendum Act

2. Reasons and Intent

(1) The recent influx of new players means the current threshold of 30 supporters on a petition is disproportionately low and shouldn’t amount to an announcement.

(2) This Act will raise the supporter threshold to ensure it accurately reflects today's Redmont while not exaggerating it in case activity falls in the future.

PART II — AMENDMENTS

3. Amendments to the Referendum Act

(1) Section 5(2) of the Referendum Act shall be amended as follows:

“(2) A petition must:
(a) Be listed in the #petitions channel of the DemocracyCraft Official Discord.
(b) State clearly what it asks for;
(c) Be supported by at least 30 50 citizens;
(i) Support must be demonstrated by reaction.
(d) Not repeat an ongoing or rejected petition from the last 30 days.
(i) Petition rejected in violation of §5.4 of the Act shall be exempt from this subsubsection, given there is not an identical petition ongoing..”
