To
Uphold the rights of citizens when under arrest​

The people of the Commonwealth of Redmont, through their elected Representatives in the Congress and the force of law ordained to that Congress by the people through the constitution, do hereby enact the following provisions into law:

1 - Short Title and Enactment
(1) This Act may be cited as the “Miranda Warning Act"
(2) This Act shall be enacted immediately upon its signage.
(3) This Act is authored by Representative ComradeLuigi.
(4) This Act is co-sponsored by Representative Freeze28

2 - Reasons
(1) Since the constitution grants, under section IV, number V, that no citizen is to be made to produce self-incriminating evidence in a court of law, Congressional hearing, subpoena, or impeachment trial, it reasonably follows that anyone arrested or detained by police should be informed of their alleged offense and advised of their right to refuse to answer questions or provide information to law enforcement or other officials.

3 - Procedure

(1) Every citizen charged with an offense must:
a. be informed, without unreasonable delay, of the specific offense.
b. be advised, without unreasonable delay, that they have a right to remain silent and that any statement they do make may be used as evidence against them.

(2) If the detained person invokes these rights, all interrogation must cease and nothing said by the defendant in violation of these rules may be admitted against them at trial.
