Medicare Policy
Under statute, the healthcare costs of doctor-crafted cures are automatically covered by Medicare for all citizens.
MEDICARE BENEFITS SCHEDULE
The Medicare Benefits Schedule (MBS) is the list of all treatments the government will contribute towards in a co-payment. The law dictates that the government will cover the full cost of any treatment applied to a patient that can be crafted by a doctor.$100 CO-PAYMENTS
- Leg splints
- Wrist splints
- Bandages
- Ice packs
- Heat packs
- Aciclovir
- Activated charcoal
- Antibiotics
- Antiemetic
- Cough syrup
- Metrozol
- Pain relief
The following treatments are not available on the MBS:
- BlooGoo
- Featherpluck tonic
- Ear spray
- Insulin
COLLECTING CO-PAYMENTS
Co-payments from the MBS can only be collected after treating a patient by right-clicking them with the correct treatment. To collect a co-payment from the MBS, a doctor must use the command /bulkbill <patient>.
The /bulkbill command SHOULD be used after each treatment to ensure that the co-payments can be collected correctly.
All co-payments that are collected using /bulkbill are logged and closely monitored.
OUT OF POCKET PAYMENTS
A patient may pay for their treatment out of pocket from their own funds if they state so clearly before a treatment is administered. If a patient wishes to pay out of pocket after a treatment has been administered, they may not do so and Medicare must be used instead to collect the payment. The out-of-pocket cost for a treatment is equal to the co-payment listed in the MBS. This information can also be found on signs in cure crafting rooms. A patient MUST be charged this amount in full for their treatment.
To make an out of pocket payment a patient must use /pay <doctor> <amount>. Only when the correct payment has been received can the patient be treated.
A patient may provide a tip out of pocked, even when charged through the MBS. A tip MUST NOT be used to contribute towards the payment for a treatment.
MEDICARE ABUSE POLICY
Do not commit insurance fraud. When you use the /bulkbill command, you are filing an insurance claim and attesting that you are complying with this policy. Violation of this policy is a serious mishandling of department resources, may warrant disciplinary action up to and including termination, and may even lead to criminal prosecution in the event fraudulent conduct is discovered. The Department of Health considers the following to be Medicare abuse; individuals paying with Medicare and/or submitting Medicare claims by the /bulkbill command MUST NOT:
- Collect the co-payment for self-administered treatments.
- Charge a patient out-of-pocket and also collect a Medicare co-payment for the same treatment.
- Intentionally and repeatedly contract an illness and then use Medicare to cover the costs of treatment.
UPDATING THE MBS
The Secretary of Health has access to the following commands for managing the MBS:- /medicare list - Lists all treatments covered by the MBS.
- /medicare add <treatment> <co-payment> - Adds a treatment to the MBS and sets the price.
- /medicare remove <treatment> - Removes a treatment from the MBS.
- /medicare update <treatment> <co-payment> - Edit the co-payment cost of an existing treatment on the MBS.
The Medicare Policy is updated and enforced at the discretion of the Secretary. Any doubts, concerns or requests may be raised directly with the Secretary or Deputy Secretary.
