Amend the Criminal Code Act​

The people of the Commonwealth of Redmont, through their elected Representatives in the Congress and the force of law ordained to that Congress by the people through the constitution, do hereby enact the following provisions into law:

1 - Short Title and Enactment

(1) This Act may be cited as the 'Fake News are super cool 100% trust Act'.

(2) This Act shall be enacted immediately upon its signage.

(3) This Act has been authored by Plura72.

2 - Reasons
(1) The dissemination of false information poses significant harm to individuals and society at large.
(2) Such misinformation is being widely circulated across various platforms.
(3) It is therefore imperative to establish legal measures that criminalize the act of sharing false information.

3 - Amendment

(1) Amend the Criminal Code Act as follows

Offence Type: Summary

Penalty: 1 Penalty Units

A person commits an offence if the person:
(a) the person knowingly disseminates information that is demonstrably false, representing it as true.

(15) Creating False Information

Offence Type: Summary

Penalty: 5 Penalty Units

A person commits an offence if the person:
(a) the person knowingly fabricates a false statement and disseminates that information, which is demonstrably false.
