BILL
To

Amend the
Property Standards Act

The people of the Commonwealth of Redmont, through their elected Representatives in the Congress and the force of law ordained to that Congress by the people through the constitution, do hereby enact the following provisions into law:

1 - Short Title and Enactment

(1) This Act may be cited as the 'Eviction Tax Act'
(2) This Act shall be enacted immediately upon its signage.
(3) This Act has been authored by Representative girlfailcoded.
(4) This Act has been co-sponsored by Representative Smami.
2 - Reasons
(1) The ‘Property Standards Act’ references Departments that have been renamed and uses unclear language.
(2) It is important that we prospect new avenues of taxation during a time of heightened government spending as caused by the Department of Education inheriting the responsibility of making trade payouts.
(3) Plot evictions are made, typically, on players who neglect to meet the criteria expected of them when they come into possession of a plot. This means, for the duration of their holding of a plot, it is inaccessible to the wider economy, yet frequently unsuitable to serve its designated purpose. Despite this, evicted landowners are given a full refund of the plot at the time of auction.
3 – Amendments
The ‘Property Standards Act’ shall be amended as follows:
(1) §4.2 - “The Department of Environment and Recreation Department of the Interior shall retain jurisdiction to establish regulations outside of this law and to evict properties in accordance with these laws and regulations. These regulations will be listed under Department policy and will be displayed on the relevant rules and laws page node.”
(2) §13.1 - “Plots may be sold back to the landlord for 90% of the plot’s in-game price landlord (DCGovernment) for the plot’s in-game sellback value, or be resold to another player, or may be auctioned.”
(3) §13.4 - “During the finalization of an eviction auction, following all other taxes, fines, and fees, the proceeds of the auction shall be divided as follows:
(a) Twenty (20) Percent of the auction proceeds shall be given to the Commonwealth of Redmont (DCGovernment).
(b) The remaining auction proceeds shall be given to the evicted player as compensation for the evicted plot.
