Employment Policy & Code of Conduct
All Department of Health employees are expected to abide by the Employment Policy and follow the department Code of Conduct, particularly when actively working at a hospital. Citizens come to us in times of distress and it is our duty to assist them professionally.
Frequent misconduct, failure to adhere to a legal or ethical duty, or failure to follow the Employment Policy will be met with disciplinary action, which may result in termination from the department.
EMPLOYMENT POLICY
Employment in the Department of Health is subject to the Employment Policy. To be employed by the Department of Health, you MUST:- Follow the policies of the Department of Health
- Follow the Code of Conduct of the Department of Health
- Be reachable on the Forums and in the department Discord.
CODE OF CONDUCT
The Code of Conduct sets the standards for behaviour that all members of the department are expect to follow and uphold. Where a 'MUST' indicates an ethical or legal duty, a 'SHOULD' is instead considered 'best practice'. Disciplinary actions taken for breaches of the Code of Conduct will take this distinction into account.GENERAL
General expectations will apply to all all members of the department:
- You MUST never bring harm to, neglect or abuse a patient, nor encourage a citizen to contract an illness.
- You MUST treat everyone, both colleagues and the public, with respect.
- You MUST act with honesty and integrity.
- You MUST maintain the confidentiality of patient and department information.
- You MUST never commit a health-related criminal offence.
- You SHOULD NOT bring the department into disrepute through your behaviour.
- You SHOULD maintain five hours of active playtime in the past 30 days.
- You SHOULD promptly inform management of any Leaves of Absence.
- You SHOULD keep general conversation in the /doh channel to a minimum and prioritize work-related discussion.
- You SHOULD follow reasonable instructions from the Health Secretary, their Deputy Secretary, and members of the Medical Specialist team.
Doctors will also be held to the following standards:
- You SHOULD attend to a minimum of two patients per calendar month.
- You SHOULD treat patients as swiftly as possible, and you MUST keep patients informed of any delays.
- You SHOULD allow your colleagues fair opportunity to treat patients.
- You SHOULD only craft cures from materials provided by the Department of Health.
- You SHOULD NOT treat patients with doctor-crafted cures outside of Department of Health hospitals or clinics.
- You MUST never sell, gift, nor traffic doctor-crafted cures.
- You MUST return or dispose of unused materials provided by the Department of Health at the designated signs in supply rooms.
- You MUST ensure you maintain your licence-to-practice.
Epidemiologists will be held to the following standards:
- You SHOULD provide an update to the Secretary on any ongoing projects at least once per calendar month.
- You SHOULD promptly provide an update on your work at the request of the Secretary or their Deputy.
- You MUST NOT distribute plugin files outside of the designated workspaces.
MEDICAL SPECIALISTS
Medical Specialists will be held to the following standards:
- You SHOULD embody the values of the Department of Health, acting as a Role Model for your colleagues.
- You SHOULD provide an update to the Secretary on any ongoing projects at least once per calendar month.
- You SHOULD promptly provide an update on your work at the request of the Secretary or their Deputy.
- You SHOULD allow more junior doctors to attend to patients first.
- You SHOULD play an active role in the training of new doctors in the department.
- You MUST inform the Secretary or their Deputy immediately upon having any disciplinary concerns about an employee of the department.
The Employment Policy and Code of Conduct are updated and enforced at the discretion of the Secretary. Any doubts, concerns or requests may be raised directly with the Secretary or Deputy Secretary.
