Amend the Aventura Constitution to fix broken election systems​

The citizens of Aventura, through their elected Representatives in the Town-Council and the force of law ordained to that Town-Council by the people through the Constitution of Aventura, do hereby enact the following provisions into the Constitution.

1 - Short Title and Enactment

  1. This Act may be cited as the ‘Elections Quick-Fix Act’
  2. This Act shall be enacted immediately upon its signage.
  3. This Act has been authored by Councillor Angryhamdog.

2 - Reasons

  1. To ensure that any changes in power have a clear provided way in law
  2. To temporarily provide a legally binding election system

3 - Amendments

  1. The Aventura Constitution shall be amended as follows:

Article III – Elections


Elections for the Office of Mayor and Deputy Mayor, who shall run jointly, as well as Council elections, shall be held three times a year, in the months of April, August, and December. The intended start of the new term, referred to as “New Government Day”, shall be the 1st day of the aforementioned months.


All Elections, except for Special and Run-Off Elections, shall have the declaration period open five days before the 1st day of an election month for a period of 72 hours, and voting shall be open for 48 hours directly afterwards.

Mayoral and Council elections shall use Instant-Runoff Voting (IRV).
In case of a removal from the office of Mayor, the Deputy Mayor shall succeed to the office of Mayor. A special election shall then be held to fill the office of Deputy Mayor.

In case of a removal from the office of Deputy Mayor, a special election shall be held to fill the office of Deputy Mayor.

If both the offices of Mayor and Deputy Mayor become vacant simultaneously, a special election shall be held for the offices of Mayor and Deputy Mayor, who shall run jointly. If such an election occurs less than one month before the next regularly scheduled election, the winning Mayor and Deputy Mayor shall serve the remainder of the current term and the entirety of the following term, for a maximum total service of five months.

In the event of a vacancy for a Council seat, a special election shall be held to fill the vacant seat.

Special elections shall have a 48-hour declaration period, followed directly by a 48-hour voting period.

All Candidates running for elected office shall meet the following requirements:

  • Has Aventura residency or own property within the Town
  • Has 6 hours active playtime in the last 30 days

Candidates running for the positions of Mayor or Deputy Mayor shall additionally meet the following requirements:

  • Has been 1 month since the player’s initial join date
  • Has accrued 48 hours of total playtime
  • Has accrued 12 hours of active playtime within the last 30 days.
  • Is an active participant in the community, in-game, on discord, and on the forums.

All Voters must meet the following requirements to vote in town elections and referendums:

  • Have Aventura residency or own property within the Town
  • Have 6 hours active playtime in the last 30 days

All Elections and Referendums shall be conducted by the Department of State.


The Town of Aventura shall have elections once every six months for the Mayor position.

Mayoral candidates must outline their intended Department Councilor appointees in their declaration statement.

Mayoral elections shall be decided on May 5th and November 5th.

Declarations shall open starting on the 1st of May/November for 72 hours, and voting shall be open for 48 hours starting on the 3rd of May/November.

All candidates must have Aventura residency or own property within the Town.

All candidates must have a minimum of 6 hours of active playtime in the previous 30 days.

Voters may have residency for any town/city. There is no playtime requirement for voters.

The elections shall be overseen by the Department of State.
