BILL
To

Amend the Constitution and the Executive Standards Act

The people of Democracy Craft, through their elected Representatives in the Congress and the force of law ordained to that Congress by the people through the constitution, do hereby enact the following provisions into law:

1 - Short Title and Enactment
(1) This Act may be cited as the “DoS Referendum Management Act”.
(2) This Act shall be enacted immediately upon its signage.
(3) This Act was authored by Speaker of the House 218218Consumer.
(4) This Act has been co-sponsored by Rep. yerevanvvs.

2 - Reason
Currently, the Speaker manages referendums on amendments. This makes no sense, since the Speaker can’t verify votes for activity, and since the Department of State actually manages elections, they should oversee referendums as well.

3 - Terms
(1) The following is added to Rights and Freedoms:
a. “II. The right to vote in elections and referendums, provided the player:
a. Has been online within 1 month as the votes are counted.
b. Has accrued 12 or more hours of playtime in the last 30 days.”

(2) The following is added to Department of State (DoS) under Government Departments & Offices:
a. “The Department of State shall oversee and manage federal elections and referendums.”

Veto

This bill has been vetoed for the following reasons:
- Separation of powers is what keeps our government from butting heads, it's what keeps our branches doing their respective operations to the best of their ability. With this bill, the power of referendums is given to a Secretary who in the end, derives all power from the President. Congress has done and always should be responsible for referendums, that's just what makes sense.
- I've spoken the Speaker and a revised version of the bill is to be expected, of which I will sign.
