INCREASE PENALTIES FOR ASSAULT AND ATTEMPTED MURDER

The people of the Commonwealth of Redmont, through their elected Representatives in the Congress and the force of law ordained to that Congress by the Constitution, do hereby enact the following provisions into law:​

PART I — PRELIMINARIES

1. Short Title and Enactment

(1) This Act may be cited as the ‘Dangers to the Community Penalty Increase Act’.

(2) This Act shall be enacted immediately upon its signage.

(3) This Act has been authored by Aladeen.

(4) This Act has been co-sponsored by xEndeavour.

(5) This Act amends the following Acts:

(a) Criminal Code Act

2. Reasons and Intent

(1) Assault and Attempted Murder are offences that currently do not show an appropriate level of punishment relative to their impact.

(2) Increasing penalties for these offences will better align them with the harm caused and discourage harmful conduct.

PART II — AMENDMENTS

3. Amendment to PART IV — Dangers to the Community

(1) PART IV, Subsection 1 of the Criminal Code Act shall be amended as follows:

1 - Assault
Offence Type: Summary
Penalty: 2 1 Penalty Units; 8 5 minutes imprisonment
A person commits an offence if the person:
(a) intentionally hits another player, causing a loss of no more than 3 hearts; or
(b) places another player in a position of danger, including but not limited to pointing a weapon at them.
Relevant Law:

(2) PART IV, Subsection 2 of the Criminal Code Act shall be amended as follows:

2 - Attempted Murder
Offence Type: Summary
Penalty: 2.5 1 Penalty Units; 15 10 minutes imprisonment
A person commits an offence if the person:
(a) intentionally hits another player, causing a loss of more than 3 hearts.
