CONSTITUTIONAL AMENDMENT
To
Establish the Militia of Aventura​

BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of Aventura:

1 - Short Title
(1) This Amendment may be cited as the "Aventura Militia Act."
(2) This Amendment shall take effect immediately upon passage by the Council pursuant to Article II, Section IV of the Constitution.

2 - Reasons
(1) Aventura recognizes the importance of preserving the right of residents to collectively assist in the defence and security of the town.

3 - Creation of Article VII
(1) The following Article VII shall be inserted into the Constitution of Aventura:

Article VII - The Militia of Aventura​

Section I - Composition of the Militia

(1) The Militia of Aventura shall consist of all able residents of Aventura and shall be divided into two classes:
(a) the Organized Militia; and
(b) the Unorganized Militia.

(2) The Organized Militia shall consist of national guards formally established by by-law of the Council of Aventura.

(3) The Unorganized Militia shall consist of all residents of Aventura who:
(a) hold residency within Aventura; and
(b) possess at least six (6) hours of monthly playtime.

Section II - Regulation

(1) The Council of Aventura may regulate, organize, activate, equip, or govern the Organized Militia through motion or by-law.

(2) The Mayor of Aventura shall serve as the commander of the Organized Militia unless otherwise provided by by-law.

(3) Nothing in this Article shall be interpreted to authorize the Unorganized Militia to independently exercise governmental authority, law enforcement authority, or powers reserved to the Government of Aventura except where authorized by law.

3 - Renumbering
(1) All subsequent Articles and Sections of the Constitution shall be renumbered accordingly where necessary.
