The people of the Commonwealth of Redmont, through their elected Representatives in the Congress and the force of law ordained to that Congress by the people through the constitution, do hereby enact the following provisions into law:

PART I — PRELIMINARIES

1. Short Title and Enactment

(1) This Act may be cited as the ‘Anti Animal Abuse Act’

(2) This Act shall be enacted immediately upon its signage.

(3) This Act has been authored by sonofalancer.

(4) This Act has been co-sponsored by Representative Dogen851

(5) This Act amends the following acts:

(a) Criminal Code Act



2. Reasons and Intent

(1) Animals are not respected enough. Crimes against animals should be treated more harshly.

(2) The wording of the overcrowding crimes are weird, which this Act aims to change.

(3) This Act also adds crimes against killing animals in the streets for no reason and people planting animals on a property which is not theirs, framing them for Animal Overcrowding.

3. Definitions

(1) For the purposes of this Act, the following definitions shall apply:

(a) DOI. Department of the Interior.

(b) Public space. An area that is publicly accessible and not owned by a specific player.

(b) Pet. A vanilla pet as defined by the DOI and pets accessible via /pets.

(c) Confiscation. Seizure of animals by the DOI.

PART II — AMENDMENTS

(1) Part IV of the Criminal Code Act shall be amended as follows:

7 - Public Slaughter of an animal
Offence Type: Summary
Penalty: 1 Penalty Unit; 5 minutes imprisonment
A person commits an offence if the person:
(a) Kills an animal in a public space.
(a) Subsequent sections shall be renumbered appropriately.

(2) Part VIII of the Criminal Code Act shall be amended as follows:
3 - Pet Overcrowding
Offence Type: Summary
Penalty: 1 Penalty Unit per pet; Confiscation of animals by the Department of the Interior.
A person commits an offence if the person:
(a) fails to provide minimum space as defined by the Department of the Interior for pets.

4 - Animal Overcrowding
Offence Type: Summary
Penalty:
(a) First offence - 1[COLOR/]0.25 Penalty Units per animal; Confiscation of animal(s) by the Department of the Interior;
(b) AdditionalSubsequent offences - 30.5 Penalty Units per animal; Confiscation of animal(s) by the Department of the Interior; Eviction
(i) Only once the animals from the first offence have been confiscated, a person may be charged with subsequent offences.
A person commits an offence if the person fails to provide the minimum space as defined by the Department of the Interior.
A person commits an offence if the person:
(a) fails to provide the minimum space as defined by the Department of the Interior for animals.

5 - Overcrowding of Unauthorized Terrain
Offence Type: Summary
Penalty:
(a) First offence - 3 Penalty Units; 5 minutes imprisonment;
(b) Second offence - 6 Penalty Units; 5 minutes imprisonment;
(c) Subsequent offences - 10 Penalty Units; 10 minutes imprisonment.
A person commits an offence if the person:
(a) Commits Animal or Pet Overcrowding on terrain that is not owned or rented by the player, and the player is not added to it, by planting animals or pets on said terrain.
(a) Subsequent sections shall be renumbered appropriately.
