To

Codify and establish fundamental diplomatic law.

The people of Democracy Craft, through their elected Representatives in the Congress and the force of law ordained to that Congress by the people through the constitution, do hereby enact the following provisions into law:

1 - Short Title and Enactment
(1) This Act may be cited as the “Diplomacy Act”.
(2) This Act shall be enacted immediately upon its signage.
(3) Co-written by Senator Ansgard.

2 - Reasons
To expand on diplomatic relation powers.

3 - Diplomatic Immunity
(1) Diplomats enjoy legal immunity, allowing them immunity against prosecution, detention, arrest, and or subpoena.
a. Despite having immunities, foreign representatives are required to respect Redmont laws and the lawful directions of police.
b. Diplomats may be expelled by the President of Redmont.
c. Diplomatic Immunity may be revoked by the nation of origin.
(2) Embassies are required to provide the Government with an up-to-date list of diplomats for them to enjoy legal protections.
a. Redmont will only recognise up to 3 diplomats per nation.

4 - Embassies
(1) The Department of State may designate certain land as an Embassy, representing a foreign nation.
a. Land is to be provided to the hosted nation at the cost of the Redmont Government.
b. The Redmont Government is not responsible for any infrastructure on the plot.
c. Each foreign nation is afforded one designated embassy.
d. Embassy territory remains the territory of Redmont.
(2) Embassies enjoy diplomatic protections, barring law enforcement or security forces from entering the embassy, unless they have the express permission of the ambassador.

5 - Ambassadors
(1) Will be paid a salary and have an in-game role
(2) Will be a Principle Officer

Vetoed: No person should have immunity from the laws, including representatives from foreign Governments. While these individuals are usually responsible, why would we leave open the door to extensive misconduct? Sure we can expel them, but then they get off with no punishment. I'm not really sure who originally came up with Diplomatic Immunity but it's a very outdated, elitist concept that just doesn't make sense. Additionally, barring our Government access to the embassy land could result in domestic criminals seeking refuge within the confines of an embassy, preventing us from enforcing our laws on citizens of Redmont.
