WILLOW ELECTIONS​

INTRODUCTION

The Town of Willow elects 5 council members every 2 months to serve on the town's council. These advisors can propose and vote on by-laws and influence internal town decisions. Willow is the first town to utilize ranked-choice voting, and all electoral processes occur via the town's discord.

REQUIREMENTS

Mayor/Deputy requirements:

• Has acquired 12 hours of playtime in the last 30 days
• Minimum of 120 hours of cumulative playtime
• Must have and be available on Discord
• Must be an active In-game community member
• Must be a Willow resident with the Willow resident role

Council Position requirements:

• Must be a Willow resident with the Willow resident role
• Has acquired 12 hours of playtime in the last 30 days

THE BALLOT

Willow has a ranked-choice voting system, where candidates are ranked by voters, and winners are determined through instant-runoff voting. The ballots are presented over Google Forms, and ask that players rank each candidate from first choice to last choice.

ELECTORAL TIMELINE

Regular Elections are called within 14 days after the two-month period has ended. Special Elections are motioned by the Town Council to fill a vacancy. If a spot becomes vacant the Mayor has the option to appoint or motion for a special election.

Regular Election:

• Declarations - 3 Days
• Voting - 2 Days

Special Election:

• Declarations - 1 Days
• Voting - 1 Days
