BILL
To

Formalize Non-Profits

The people of Democracy Craft, through their elected Representatives in the Congress and the force of law ordained to that Congress by the people through the constitution, do hereby enact the following provisions into law:

1 - Short Title and Enactment
(1) This Act may be cited as the “Non-Profit Act”.
(2) This Act shall be enacted immediately upon its signage.
(3) Authored by Representative hugebob23456

2 - Reasons
(1) As it currently stands it is very difficult to run a non-profit and wealth is greatly concentrated in a small group of for-profit organizations and the Government. Both these problems can be solved simultaneously.

3 - Terms
(1) When registering a company, the person filing the registration may note that the company is a non-profit organization, which will make it subject to more rigorous regulations but will also provide for more extensive benefits.
(2) The definition of Corruption shall change to: “To use a government or non-profit leadership position, elected or otherwise, to benefit one's private interests or corporate ventures. By applying for a position, being elected into a position in government, or founding a non-profit, the player agrees to serve the server over themselves.”
(3) The punishment for Corruption shall change to: “Per Offence: Courts may order up to $5000 in fines in addition to seizure of cash or asset acquired through Corruption + Removal from public office for a period no longer than 2 months + Deregistration of non-profits owned by the person in question”
(4) Non-profit organizations may not distribute or sell shares of stock in private or on the DC Stock Exchange.
(5) The owner of a non-profit organization may not be paid to increase their personal balance above $10,000. Failure to comply may result in deregistration of the company and Corruption charges.
(6) Non-profit organizations may apply for “Operation Grants” on the forums which shall be capped to $10,000 per month. To be eligible, a non-profit organization must provide evidence to support that they improve the lives of at least 10 people with a balance less than $10,000 who do not work for the non-profit.
(7) Registered for-profit companies and individuals may apply for “Charitable Rebates” on the forums in which the Government will refund 50% the cost of monetary donations made to registered non-profit organizations, capped at $100,000 per month per individual or company. A rebate will be denied in the event that the donor also owns or is owned by the owner of the non-profit which is receiving the donation. Rebates made to companies owned by the same individual will all count towards the same rebate cap. Even if an individual owns two separate companies, the two companies may only be entitled to at most $100,000 of rebates per month combined.

This act was rescinded with the Economic Standards Act.
