The Supreme Court has decided to open up an expression of interest forum for those with extensive legal experience to express interest in the role of Magistrate. We would like to emphasize the apolitical role this is, and ask that people respect this process by not campaigning, endorsing, or explicitly supporting any individual for such role.

MAGISTRATE INFORMATION

Magistrates serve on the District Court of the Commonwealth of Redmont. They preside over all cases in the District Court, under the supervision of a Judge or Justice. The‌ ‌District‌ ‌Court‌ ‌of‌ ‌Redmont‌ ‌hears‌ ‌all‌ ‌minor‌ ‌civil‌ ‌and‌ ‌criminal‌ ‌disputes‌ ‌in‌ ‌the‌ ‌first‌ ‌instance.‌ Each‌ ‌town‌ ‌or‌ ‌city‌ ‌shall‌ ‌be‌ ‌considered‌ ‌a‌ ‌district‌ ‌and‌ ‌shall‌ ‌have‌ ‌one‌ ‌Magistrate.‌ ‌ ‌

Magistrates are expected to maintain judicial integrity and independence, and to perform‌ ‌the‌ ‌duties‌ ‌of‌ ‌the‌ ‌office‌ ‌fairly,‌ ‌impartially,‌ ‌and‌ ‌diligently.‌

What are your strengths and weaknesses?:
Strengths:
I bring maturity and experience to the position. Having had a diverse range of experiences in the past allows me to find new challenges more effectively.

I have strong communication skills, which allows me to give legal concepts with clarity, giving a better understanding among all parties involved during trials.

Weaknesses:
Sometimes I can be a perfectionist, working that details are just right. While this often leads to high-quality work, it can slow my pace down. However, I am actively working on having a better balance between perfectionism and efficiency.

I can also be overly self-critical. Sometimes this is useful since it motivates me to improve, but just as my other weakness, I am working to understand and work on any mistakes I make along the way without punishing myself too hard.

What town/city do you primarily reside in?: City of Reveille

Why do you want this position?:
I want this position because l have practiced law for multiple years in the server now. Practicing in both the government and in law firms I have accumulated experience that I believe could be useful to improve the current situation of the courts. It is also a job I've held on the past which I have enjoyed.

Are you able to effectively communicate with a team? Explain: I can effectively communicate with a team. This is mainly because in previous jobs I have already worked with teams of different sizes which has helped me improve my communication skills.

What kind of legal experience do you have on DC outside of the court?:

I have been on committees inside of the RBA, the RBA Council, Director of the Public Defender Program, and Chairman. I have also been in Congress both as a representative and as a senator. I have managed and worked on multiple law firms and also worked in the Department of Legal Affairs, having multiple leadership roles such as Solicitor General and Deputy Attorney General.

- What are your strengths and weaknesses?:

My strengths are as follows: I thoroughly read the law and argue it how it is written. I am a strong orator and can effectively and efficiently communicate. I find solutions to problems where either both sides can come out happy or one side will — I will not leave two parties unhappy in a case. I am very objective and I am very honest.

My weaknesses are as follows:

I do not tolerate half-baked or weak arguments or fluffed up, long winded nonsense. I am very direct — perhaps too direct. I am inflexible, but that goes with objectivity. I am not as empathetic as others, however law is clean-cut. Someone is right or wrong, so that’s either a strength or a weakness depending on how you look at it.

- What town/city do you primarily reside in?: I primarily reside in the town of Willow.

- Why do you want this position?:

I want to give the people a judicial officer that can properly understand complex arguments and interpret the law correctly and justly.

- Are you able to effectively communicate with a team? Explain:

I am able to effectively communicate with a team as I have been a Partner in Dragon Law successfully and successfully trained people under me.

- What kind of legal experience do you have on DC outside of the court?:

I have written contracts, I have advised clients on the best option to resolve a situation where both sides aren’t unhappy and it eliminates conflict.

- What town/city do you primarily reside in?: Willow.
- Why do you want this position?: Magistrate is my main goal on this server, it is an apolitical position that involves being on the otherside of the bench, it's something I've wanted to do since day 1 in august 2021 and it's still something I want to do now. It's something that I think I can do well, and something I would enjoy.
- Are you able to effectively communicate with a team? Explain: Yes I have worked with various teams, at the DLA, DOS, DOI, DOE, and DOC along with during my internship at the supreme court communicating with them to get stuff done.
